Is my Netduma working?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I only play BO3 and FIFA 16, 50% of the time right now I'm getting laggy games. My ISP is fine, ping is fine, I don't know if the Netduma is just finding me bad games? I have radious set to UK and 40ms ping. Is there a way of knowing if it's actually doing something useful? (Xbox One btw)

it's a hoax

buy this and add their firmware... it does nothing that the internet wouldn't already do except lower your expected bandwidth and reduce flutter and SOMETIMES that actually reduces the amount of lag their own "geofilter" induces.

follow the link it's pretty straight forward

Right...you won't be able to add the firmware onto the router... But please don't take this thread off topic. It was for someone else needing support with their router.

Hey Andy please do follow the instructions Crossy has provided and we can help :)

As Crossy said above firstly you wouldn't be able to get it on there. Even if you managed to why would you bother if you think its a hoax?

It eliminates local congestion which can stop lag/buffering when it comes to streaming/downloading/gaming etc.

The very premise of the Geo-filter is to connect you to more local games which in turn can result in lower ping games than what you were to get if you left it up to the matchmaking system on it's own as it does not prioritise this.

Regardless hijacking someone's genuine thread asking for support to put your point across is not only unhelpful to the original poster but just plain rude. You have your own support thread, that is where I suggest you raise your concerns. From your thread it looked like you resolved the issue you were having so not sure why your making this post here.

My DL is a whopping 3mb, upload 0.5. Ping around 30ms. This has never been an issue with online gaming, I have ADSL purely for gaming. I have a Wireless access solution for every other device in the household so congestion is never a problem whilst I'm on the Xbox.

The ping graph is so inconsistent when in game, what I included a pic of is what it's like most of the time, I often see it go from 40ms to 150ms then I lose it. I was always on 4 bars constantly on AW and Ghosts, not sure why I'm not on BO3. FIFA is laggy pretty much every game.

Is this sufficient info?

Surely I should never find a game if I the NETDUMA can't find a good enough host? I've just joined a game now, connection bar all over the place

Second game, the same, everyones connection is all over the place whereas the host stays on 4 bars, why does the Netduma not prevent me joining these games?

What game are you playing ?

If it's BO3 i wouldn't be surprised as all the Kids just got there new ps4's and XB1's and those servers are getting a real thrashing. It was laggy for me last night when i was on PC i would hate to imagine what it would be like on the consoles. It's not the Netdums fault.

Umm yea, Its not really a good idea to try and extract the firmware and put it on something that connects back to the internet

You could try filtering just with ping assist. Put your home location in the ocean, set the range as small as possible then put ping assist to about 45ms :) Keep increasing PA and restart search until you find a game. If PA is lower, it will take longer to find a game but the host might be better. Whereas if you have PA larger, then you should find games faster but they may not be so good :)

Also make sure you have bleeding edge cloud enabled in Settings >> Miscellaneous.

Thanks for the suggestion, Bleeding Edge has always been enabled for info.

I did what you asked and set the filter to a large distance and set PS to 20ms. I found a game on fifa pretty instantly and the ping graph is showing 70ms. It seems the Netduma is just ignoring me!

Yeah, as Bagsta said, is it possible that you had connected to that host within the last 2 minutes? And I'm not sure you will be able to get games at 20ms as your base ping is about 35ms. That is why I suggest starting off at 45ms.
