    Ruxomar got a reaction from Shell in ANNOUNCEMENT: DUMAOS 3.0 IS HERE   
    after 5 years i'm very tired of all this ...  this is a very summarized version of my personal experience with this Company.  
    in late 2015 i got the R1 which served the purpose on ADSL connection and somewhat controlled few aspects of my gaming, years went by as NetDuma empty promises over and over and Over. Yet technology improved so internet for most part as ISP had at least here in Europe comply with whatever was going on around them so connections got a lot better so wifi-routers (Netduma functionalities becomes obsolete) ... Now one day we've been informed of a partnership with Netgear which sure has some good hardware but never ever had good service nor maintenance (Software is obnoxious) on wifi-routers so to me all this sounded kinda of fishy ... but nevertheless said hey maybe they have a chance to redeem themselves, so for NetDuma which that point filled us with empty and painful waiting and a promised land that never came (the infamous new Beta version ...  Anyone remembers).... Still on faith i tried extensively the xr500 and then the xr700 which both have great hardware potential but neither have demonstrated software wise any of that ... not going to sit here and list all the problems that both have cuz frankly is embarrassing especially on security side (not Netduma fault for most part .. i know) Still updates are nonexistent as Netgear customer service  ... So gave away both routers to the shop and got an Asus RT-AX88U installed merlin and finally forgot it all about it ... back to the real world ...  Now this PR stunt all over again in spite of all that had already happened.. once again Netgear get it first then maybe the outdated R1 and all comes down to a Beta which gives at first look of what ? Really !!! Geo fencing and few other things justify all this waiting all over again ?  and you guys already working on 3.1 ... seriously... come on guys... You cannot even get a 3.0 Beta out properly and to you say we already working on 3.1.. hellooo... is this for Real !!!  Not to mention all the PR from Netgear when you buy the router which none ever happened, but hey we promised you something so wait for it ...  I don't know why i even wrote this post, maybe got really frustrated by this complete non sense (False Marketing and PR) or just maybe had to get it all out once and for all ... and put my R1 in his original box full of promises and wait to become what should already been ... Still Just my humble opinion on Company that has a very Unique idea/way on how to treat loyal or new customers ...

    ahhhhh damn...i have been defending ppl ...until now.
    now we can see why all the delays with beta...because now u can buy the new R2, thats the big announcement...lost all my faith.

    I will Test Dumaos If its released again.. at the Moment i have swapped my netduma Router couse it Just dosnt Work Well, or Just for a few hours ..after that i have to restart it so that the Traffic prio work..and iam sick of waiting for a working Firmware without all These Bugs.
    The Hardware is fine.. but the current Firmware is a Buggy mess and dont Work Like its promised for me. Sometimes i have the Feeling it even increase the lag
    Now i use a edgerouter.. Just Plug and Play and enabled fqcodel +htb and have near perfect hitdetection and No bullshit Moments anymore

    I said back in 2018 when the R1 Beta was launched that Netduma needs to communicate with the community to avoid impatience and general frustration. I feel both Netduma and Netgear needed to send out an email immediately after a potential beta tester registered to indicate in which wave(group) they are and which estimated date their waves download links will be sent out unless there's some major issue. This kinda leads me into my second point that if they wanted to alpha test the software with a limited control group they should have done so without notifying the community that there's a beta (you don't dangle a bag of candy asking the class who wants some and then just share with your friends).

    Hello Ruxomar,
    Trust me I understand some of your frustrations, in regards to netgear, and their past history of slow firmware updates. Which is still something they need to be better at. Also I understand concerns in regard's to security on their routers. As it seems every couple/few months, there's a security exploit found. However Netgear hasn't always been fast to patch the issue.
    As for the Asus routers, and the AX88U overall. Asus does have a history of pushing out updates every couple months. However with their more often updates, they also bring more bugs within their software, to customers. Which luckily Merlin does a hell of a job fixing some of their messes, and if he can't fix certain things, he tells them about the problems. To be honest.. over the last few month's, a lot of the firmwares they have been releasing, for a lot of their routers, have been pretty buggy, with customers rolling back to older builds.
    Finally there's one part of ASUS software I want to talk about, and for a lot of people who own the R1, or one of the XR routers. It's something they care about, and want to use, that's QoS. ASUS QoS from the outside looks very nice, and it sounds great for gamers, and people who want to use it. The bad part.. their QoS isn't set up well, and if you look at another forum. Where Merlin post his build's and such. You will see a thread about their QoS, and how it doesn't work all that good. There's a 200+ page thread about people wanting improvements on the current QoS, that Asus uses on their routers.
    Ultimately I'm mentioning this, as there isn't one router company, in terms of software, better than the other currently. I have owned many Netgear, and Asus routers, over the last ten years. So the things I'm saying, is from using their products on my home network, over the last several years. Both companies need to do things better, and when I say that.. I'm talking about them working with their customers more, and listening to their feedback, on certain things. Instead of their current yearly push for 3-4 new routers, with all these new shiny features, that either don't work at launch, or are buggy as shit for 6-12 months, after they release.
    Anyways to the mods, and other people reading this thread. I'm sorry for going a bit off topic with my post. However I felt this needed to be said, and I feel I was respectful in what I typed in this post. To end this post of mine,  I look forward to running the newer build, with some of these newer/improved features. I will for sure give feedback on any issues I run into, which hopefully is zero for me. However I know everyone's setups are different. So I'm sure even if it runs great for me, someone else will find a bug, or two. Still that's why it's great netgear/netduma guys are starting out slow, with a beta build first. As you never want to push an official build, without a good amount of testing, with a smaller scale of people.
