Will do Fraser. Just to confirm, is this supposed to resolve the XBL chat server issue when using geo filter?
-
I presume no one else would have reported it if they already have the XBL chat servers allowed. As per my OP, this would essentially be a new feature/preset whereby XBL chat servers are allowed by default if enabled…the alternative is each user having to allow all XBL servers every time they connect and use geo filter which is very hit and miss (not to mention add them all again any time the R2 needs a full reset or update), and is very frustrating particularly when you play with friends that don’t have or even understand how DumaOS works.
-
Nope. Still doesn’t work and disconnects within 1 minute when using with geo filter. Back to the drawing board for the team! Edit: XSX is unable to get a Teredo IP address with geo filter enabled so may be this is part of the issue? Edit2: Port forwarded UDP3544 which resolved Teredo error after restarting R2, but was only temporary so both the party chat and Teredo issues remain whilst using geo filter. Please note: this is really starting to do my head in so please ask them to resolve properly asap as geo filter on R2 is pretty much useless to me if I can’t communicate with friends in party chat.

Ok will do. Thanks Fraser 👍

Any news Fraser?

Hi Fraser. I’ve tested and unfortunately this doesn’t work. I created an XBL party chat by myself and within a minute it automatically disconnects therefore the chat servers have not been whitelisted correctly. FYI this happens when my geo filter is set to Italy and Spain.
-
Ok I’ll test it later. Thanks Fraser 👍

Ok, so you’re saying that all I need to do is add friends to the allow list and don’t have to add the XBL chat servers in order for XBL party chat to work whilst using geo filter? If so, at what point is it best to add and allow friends…when they join the party chat or if they join an in game lobby?
-
An improvement in what way? If we still have to allow each XBL chat server we connect to when we create or join XBL party chat (plus allow friends) before being able to communicate then I’m not sure how that improves anything tbh. May be I’m not understanding how this works correctly but a simple preset feature or check box to “allow all” XBL chat servers would resolve this in an instant.
-
Thanks for the info Liam. Presumably this isn’t the feature I requested for a preset to allow all XBL chat servers when using geo filter?
-
@Netduma Fraser I noticed on a thread in the COD section that you mentioned an update for XBL chat servers has been released. Could you confirm details of what this involves and how we use it please?
-
Thanks Fraser. I’ve never had any issues connecting to friends in game or chatting with them using in game chat when using geo filter so haven’t got them added at the moment (obviously happy to do so if needed). The issue only appears when trying to chat via the XBL chat servers so if you guys can take care of that side then it would be awesome! Please keep me updated 😎👍
-
Does that mean that I shouldn’t get my hopes up and we’ll have to continue trying to resolve this issue ourselves…or is it something that can be taken care of by yourselves by whitelisting the XBL chat servers as suggested by Liam? If you need information from me, what is the best way to identify the correct XBL chat servers as there are numerous servers that pop up when I create a party or join one? Like I said, I find this whole process very hit and miss…at one stage I had allowed at least 15 servers that I thought were chat servers or friends but still couldn’t connect to party chat. Personally I believe this should be a basic feature on DumaOS and would be easier for you guys to implement for a lot of players rather than lots of players having to do this whole annoyingly long winded process.
-
Thanks Liam. An XBL chat server whitelist would be a massive help and hugely appreciated. 👍 It’s got to the point now where I only use geo filter if I know I’m going to have a long gaming session playing solo, and I don’t even bother with geo filter when playing with friends…and that pretty much renders my R2 useless to me.
-
Is there any way to get a preset on DumaOS to allow XBL Party Chat? I’m finding this particularly annoying that when I’m using geo filter to connect to servers further away that I’m unable to connect to XBL Party Chat. I’m aware that we can do this ourselves by allowing each chat server we connect to and allow friends, but this is a very hit and miss method, and not to mention to takes a while to do which is both frustrating for myself and friends. Also all this work goes down the pan if we have to factory reset the R2 for whatever reason. Is there any way we can request this feature to be added as it would be very helpful for a lot of us?

Is there any point to throttling connection then? It doesn’t sound like it would improve hit detection in game.
-
The only TP rule I have set up is Gaming/Voice (WAN) so should that be disabled if I start using Bandwidth Allocation? From my testing, the QoS sliders do limit the download/upload speeds when I do speed tests so is using both making my connection worse? Also what are the best settings to use for Bandwidth Allocation when gaming? I don’t need any other devices in my house to have much speed at all when gaming as I’m the only one in the house.
-
Is Bandwidth Allocation the best way to throttle download/upload then rather than using QoS sliders? I’ve always used the QoS sliders to try this but never really notice any difference.
-
Where do you live? The same method should still apply, so just try servers that are 30-60ms from your location on ping heatmap.
-
@Bul If you’re based in the UK, leave your home location there and “allow” the Italy and Spain servers when you start the game up (turn off auto ping and manually select them). Please note this may take a couple of start ups of the game to add both servers to the allow list. Once you’ve done that, use polygon method in geo filter to draw around Italy and Spain, then search for games. I only tried this late last night and only played a couple of games, so will need further testing but this is what worked for me so give it a try.
-
I was able to join Italy or Spain servers last night as a test, but I couldn’t tell which I was connected to as both were highlighted in geo filter during the game and pings are approx the same. Is there anyway to identify whether I’m connected to Italy or Spain…such as certain info in the Auto Ping data?
-
If a game makes you that frustrated and angry then the sensible thing to do is either stop caring so much and accept it for what it is…or simply stop playing. A game simply isn’t worth the stress it seems to be causing you, so if it’s no longer fun for you then stop doing it. You also have to put things in to perspective…there are literally millions of ppl playing COD on much worse hardware and connection set ups than yours, and the overwhelming majority just get on with it and play regardless of any lag/latency/delay issues…most of them won’t even know these issues exist let alone try to do anything about it. And with that being the case, there is literally nothing that you can do to achieve the perfect connection all of the time because all things are not equal in online gaming due to the variety of hardware and connections to the game. If you’ve done the best you can to minimise any disadvantage in terms of hardware and connection, then the only guaranteed way to deal with it if you don’t like it is either don’t play or adjust your play style accordingly. Ultimately, just try to enjoy playing the game…and when you don’t enjoy it any longer, then stop.
-
Why are you always asking about these kind of things instead of just playing on your regional servers with geo filter to prevent higher pings? Are you trying to circumvent SBMM?
-
So is this for all platforms or just works on PC? I play on Xbox One X so would be useful to know if also works on console.
