Honestly if they were going to implement steady ping as a network wide service, you'd think they'd make it's own menu item like Geo filter, smart boost or adblocker. Actually that's a pretty good idea to use the adblocker menu as a template as you could enable or disable it at the device level.

Yes even when it can't stabilize it shows increased ping in game, it does this for any game even World of Warcraft, it probably does it for any activity using UDP. It wouldn't be so bad if it functioned like you explained where it doesn't increase ping when it can't stabilize but since it doesn't function that way and it's always on it should at least respect whatever the user has defined for the slider under the Expert area of Steady Ping. Then you could make it function like I mentioned before as a generalized buffer to artificially increase your ping or not by adding 0 to the slider as the lowest possible buffer size.

I completely agree something is off. I can't hit a stable speedtest at all with ipv6 disabled qos disabled everything disabled and still get really sporadic test results on xr500 and eero I get 920 930mb every test regardless of time of day or congestion not that there is any I live with my partner no kids and normally tested while she's still at work. This router has a really bad throughput issue and it's making no sense can't play on it it's that bad

something definitely off dont know if its hardware or firmware based, i tested the last 2 weeks, just plugging the r3 in and no changes on original firmware 23+ ping
disabling all wifi with factory settings (nothing tinkered with) ping dropped 5 to 7 ping
completely setting up the router to cater to my needs (COD only) - had no change at all to ping or game play
upgrading to beta .23 ping dropped from 16 to 11 with factory settings and with custom settings, i currently have every options disabled and on a server (IP address) that i would get a 2 to 3ms ping on will not get lower then a 11
just to confirm i plugged my r2 back in and both MP and warzone dropped back down to a 2 and 3 ping
with the r3 from out of the box firmware and settings to beta 23 with customer settings there has not been any difference in the gameplay. no lag no packet loss. hit detection is as it should do not have to vpn or dumb down connection to not get nerfed by the game cause you had a very good last game
with the r2 it has to be dialed in to get a good gaming experience. would just like to compare the r3 and r2 once they have same ping. to there's another firmware update i will be sticking with the r2

i can second this statement. i also live in Georgia, and my normal base ping is 20, i now sit around 28-30. i am also curious if i am the only person having issues with the ping optimizer. it does not show any values and anytime i run the test it errors.

Firstly I have steady ping off but the base pings to the servers are about 2-4ms higher then normal. For example the Georgia server usually gives me a ping between 14-16 max not it’s staying between 18-20. What could cause this?

What is the actual CPU specs? It just lists "Multi-threaded Dual Core Processor" under the tech specs. I'm just curious how it stacks up against the Netgear lineup.
