Well good, I hope you get some well earned time off to enjoy yourself as well. Happy holidays to you and the rest of the NetDuma team!

Getting much higher latency in game - usually around 40-50ms was gaming around 60-80ms. Also the server being used was way outside my geofence and was probably the reason for higher latency. Ping assist is set to 40ms and is on strict mode (fast search is not enabled). This was about the same in OW2 as my latency is usually around 40-50ms and it was in the 60's. Low 60's mind you like 62-63 and it would go as low as 58 but would fluctuate between 58-63ms. Need to go hardwire my son's PS5 to a switch so that's all for now. Hope everyone is well over there!

Another thing in Geo that would be nice is being able to change the selected game for the device. Maybe where it says game selected then have a drop down box so you can change it from there instead of having to delete the device and add it again with another game.

Yeah lol I mean most routers I've had have that heavy plastic and just feel bulky like a nice paperweight. When I picked up the R3 to attach the antenna it was like "OMG is this it??" Lol no regrets here bud, the unit seems to be top notch. Just would like to see some subtle changes in the os but other than that I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Also while writing this the Internet went off, not from the ISP but the R3... Should I do a reset after the upgrade? How do we do a hard reset on the R3?
-
I mean I get that but looking at it, you can view by device or view them all. We have 4 gaming PCs, 3 PS5s, a Nintendo switch that rarely gets used and an Xbox series X.

Just started gaming and setting up devices. I honestly really hate the cap of 4 devices in Geo. As I've stated with the xr700 it's very annoying to have to remove devices to add others just to remove them and add them back over and over. You should be able to add all your gaming devices and whatever is on will be filtered simple as. If you're really going for a simple setup where most people just set up the R3 and leave it - it would make more sense to remove the cap on allowed devices in Geo so we can just add all our gaming devices to it and let it do it's job when those devices are on.

So first of all I have to apologize. I received my R3 the other day and just updated and set it up. The box looked amazing so good job on that. The router itself felt kinda cheap and very lightweight, I was a bit worried at first to say the least. After replacing my XR700 and disconnecting my APs I set my new R3 up. I have to say the initial setup wizard is miles faster than the XR700 so that was very refreshing and a bit of a relief from my "cheap" concerns. After getting reasonable Internet speeds and setting up the WiFi I began to test the range in house (it's a rainy day so not gonna venture out to the yard just yet). I have a 2 story home with finished basement. I have the R3 set in the middle of it all next to my modem. This has great range for my home. I have not used this router long maybe about an hour but it seems very responsive and NOT CHEAP lol. I would have 1 suggestion though in settings under WAN where you can set the IPv4 DNS servers, would be nice if you could set IPv6 DNS servers as well. That's really the only gripe I have, this router seems very well made and the software is very intelligent and looks phenomenal, honestly, really great job with the GUI. I'll be sure to post after gaming (PubG, Overwatch 2, Fortnite and whatever else my kids play) with any issues if I even run into any. I do have 1 question about steady ping, is it only applied to devices in Geo or is it system wide?

ANNOUNCEMENT: Introducing the Netduma R3
Proud R3 Owner replied to Netduma Lew's topic in News & Announcements
If all you're doing is gaming, yes but when multiple people are doing multiple tasks such as downloading, streaming, etc. bandwidth can easily get sucked up. Also 2.5Gb ports usually work just fine with modems/ONTs and fall back to 1Gbps if it's connected to that kind of port. You really think a 2.5Gb WAN port would add ~1/3 more on price? -

Proud R3 Owner replied to Netduma Lew's topic in News & Announcements
>1Gbps Rx/Tx isn't a waste when you have a large household of people using the Internet simultaneously. You're right where you're not going to get >1Gbps on any single connection. But when you combine multiple connections (downloads, streaming, etc.) it's nice to have all that bandwidth so us gamers don't have to suffer through limited bandwidth with congestion. I also think a 2.5Gb WAN port would have been nice so those of us who do have >1Gbps Internet could have at least utilized all the bandwidth we're paying our ISP for and honestly I don't think that single port would have made this router cost much more to produce or any harder to develop firmware for. -

Yes when I select pubg in the games list it tells me it recommends filtering to be off. When I connect my ping is terrible in the 80ms range - goes up to around 100ms. I have my radius set to 1500km but when I turn on filtering it gives me an error code on game when queuing up for a match (it times out ). Not sure what to do honestly. When I have filtering enabled I do see servers in my radius and select allow but even when I restart the game I get the same error until I turn filtering off.- 61 replies

@Netduma Fraserwill we be able to turn filtering on for PubG in Geo 2.0? When I select it on my PC it tells me the default is filtering off and when I turn it on I can't connect to a server.- 61 replies

You could always set the xr700 into AP mode and just use it as a switch with an sfp+ port with your R3 as the primary router. -

Honestly, just bite the bullet and buy an R3 like I did. Can't really beat it for the price and the value of the people making it. -

Hey @Netduma Fraser, do you happen to know the range of the WiFi on this unit in sq ft? If not it's ok. I'm going to see if I can get away with just using the R3 and ditch the 2 APs currently distributing WiFi. -

Just pre-ordered the R3. Actually feels really good to walk away from the usual name brands in networking. I'd honestly rather support a smaller company like netduma that seems to really care about it's user base and believes its product. Cheers to the entire team and I'm looking forward to being a true part of the netduma family instead of an ugly Netgear XR step-child. -

Debating on ordering as an upgrade from the xr700. Just a little apprehensive as I have a larger household with lots of devices. The xr700 handles all my traffic rather well but I'd honestly really like to walk away from Netgear for obvious reasons. I do have >1Gbps Internet as well (around 1200/40). Aside from the wireless as I have 2 APs to handle WiFi, what would be the benefits to upgrade to the R3? -

So when in ping assist mode with my home location in the middle of the ocean with the radius as small as possible, I'm supposed to enable filtering? I thought it was supposed to be turned off. I usually get ~30ms in other games but in WOW I get 50ms or more. Also when choosing wow in geofilter when I add my laptop it tells me filtering isn't recommended. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
