  1. I was reading a post @Netduma Frasermade in early access about not being a hardware company and mentioning latest in tech and limited funding. If you had just a base router with no Wi-Fi (AP's needed) or RGB lighting, you could potentially free up some funds for things like more RAM in the unit that would greatly increase the performance and give the devs a little more headroom for additional features. Just a thought, I think most R3 users probably don't even use the Wi-Fi on the R3.
  2. First thing I would do before testing on waveform is go into smart boost and set your web(general) to top priority. Second I would go into ping optimizer and advanced - set your CC to always and disable speed test bypass. I would go into geo filter and make sure your PC isn't on there (for the tests). After that I would run the test when nobody else is using the net for a more accurate result.
  3. Would be nice to be able to see jitter values in network activity and geo.
  4. Well that's just it, they're not a router company like Netgear/ubiquity, they're an innovative software company. I believe they produce routers with their software/firmware not as their main source of income but I could be wrong. Also I did say I'm not concerned about standards past Wi-Fi 6 as most people don't own anything with a higher standard yet. I believe 6 is pretty standard right now device wise as networking advancements always come before the devices that support them. Also you don't need to reboot the R3 to clear the cache as it clears itself periodically. Most people would have to reboot only when they'd lose connection but I believe they've fixed that (291) and their future FW will incorporate that fix without sacrifice to throughout speed.
  5. I agree with the RAM part, I know the R3 struggles with memory optimization since they need it due to lack of physical memory. But I honestly could care less about the Wi-Fi, especially standards past Wi-Fi 6 as most devices haven't broken past that either. Honestly if they could have dropped in a gig of physical ram, added a 2.5Gb wan port or at least aggregation, more LAN ports and a better 3 channel Wi-Fi setup they'd have an absolute beast. But I also understand they're a small company and looking to sell as many units with the best profit (cost/retail). If they built a bigger better unit and sold it for a lot more, not as many people would be able to afford it and they wouldn't reach the profits they'd need to continue what the they do. Maybe in the future we can convince them to maybe launch 2 in series as maybe an R4 and an R4 pro (or whatever you'd call the big brother) and rely on the smaller more affordable unit for profit needs and the bigger model for flex (you know show people what they can really do) and maybe also so they can see there's still a big market for pricey network equipment.
  6. Getting a 404 for the firmware progress page. I guess it's not a thing anymore.
  7. They will degrade, Fraser has said if that happens though to stop and restart smart boost. That will get it back to normal (but lower than usual) speeds with this fw.
  8. Wouldn't assigning reserved bandwidth to that device provide similar results without sacrificing so much total bandwidth to other users?
  9. You think the router is changing it's Mac? Like as a security thing (randomized Mac addressing)? I just looked and my Mac is the same as the under side of the router and it's already input in the Mac address field. Is that normal to automatically be in the field or am I just special?
  10. Yeah for wan or lan. I mean if we have cable modems that support link aggregation and it's too expensive to put a 2.5Gb wan port on the R3, can at least add in link aggregation to get those speeds. Also if people don't have that as an option but would like to use it for maybe a nas on the LAN? Was just a thought.... a cool thought.
  11. Are you talking about bandwidth reservation? The R3 has this feature in smart boost. When in smart boost click the 3 dots at the top right and go into your profile. Then click on the 3 lines at the top right and go into bandwidth reservation. I hope this helps.
  12. Pfffft, I tell ya. Buy a router of these lads, can't even get a slice of cheese outta the deal. 😐
  13. Not even simple beans on toast? 😞
  14. If you have geo-latency and ping assist or fast search enabled them yes. Try clicking on the 3 dots in geo and go into settings. Turn off geo-latency, make sure ping assist is at 0 and make sure fast search is off. Should only contact to servers inside your geo-fence only after that.
  15. Almost looks like you have speed test bypass enabled with those speeds. If you want to test cc you need to disable that and use always on instead of auto.
  16. What game are you playing? In geo filter click on the 3 dots at the top right and go into settings. Make sure geo latency is disabled and ping assist is off. If fast search is enabled, disable that. Make sure the device you're using in geo filter has filtering turned on. Also remember if you're in game and change your geo fence in custom or simple, the changes won't take effect immediately. I usually exit my game, make a change to the filter, wait a little bit, then re launch the game.
  17. Yeah I don't get disconnects from large file downloads. Honestly I'm baffled as well as my R3 can be fully functional when we all go to bed and then not working when I wake up with no users on it (not counting random use by devices in sleep mode i.e. PS5/Xbox/phones/TVs). Doing what I mentioned above has let me use the R3 for a longer periods of time but doesn't resolve the issue. Honestly for me each beta update has improved my personal experience with this unit. Also reading the forum for tips and tricks for more responsive gameplay (i.e. bandwidth reservation) have been very beneficial. Still a great community for information and great responsive people responsible for production/development. Keep up the good work!
  18. That doesn't work. I have IP reservations and static assigned IPs on devices out of DHCP range and still get disconnects on those devices. Only thing I've managed to do was max out the DHCP range (77.2-77.254) and set the lease time to 10k.
  19. It would be nice if we could have a different geo-fence for each device we add. That way when multiple people are playing different games simultaneously we can isolate the desired servers for each device.
  20. Ping optimizer would have to do something similar to waveform to get accurate bufferbloat readings and then implement cc % changes to improve latency under load. That's an undertaking from an automation standpoint imo. But it's a feature they've advertised since release and it's not been consistent in getting real improvements in latency when I've used it (or when it's let me use it). Edit: just set your ISP advertised speeds in speed test under advanced and then go into advanced in ping optimizer and play with the cc sliders until you get good results.
  21. No, you're setting the buffer amount. So the lowest it'll go (and also the simple mode value) is 10ms. So with the lowest setting of steady ping enabled your latency should be around 27ms and those little 3-4ms spikes will get lost in the buffer and you'll never even notice a change. At least that's how I understand it to be.
  22. Disable Geo latency and set ping assist to 0. Honestly take off steady ping it'll add ~10ms to try to buffer out any spikes, making your overall latency higher. Make sure you've got strict mode enabled and fast search off. Use simple mode to make a small radius around your intended server (custom is kinda glitchy) and you should be able to connect to that server consistently. Now sometimes it'll take longer to get into a game because you're trying to force that server but that's normal.
  23. Well I know it's not the switches honestly since they don't affect anything when I use my tp-link archer ax11000 instead of the R3.
  24. @Netduma Fraser Have any of you duma people been able to reproduce the disconnect issue when connected with a switch?
  25. Ah ok, I guess the way it's worded made me think differently, I'll give that a go next time I'm on. Thanks @Fuzy!!
