Thanks Fraser, where would I find the new firmware btw?

Yes, all my devices are connected only to the R3 — nothing is connected directly to the ONT.
I’ve switched my setup from bridge mode to DMZ and disabled the ONT firewall.
SmartBOOST is currently enabled
Even with these settings, I still experience some lag and inconsistent latency compared to when I was using bridge mode.
Do you have any specific recommended settings for Vodafone fiber (PPPoE + DMZ setup) to improve gaming stability?
Enabled how exactly as its not an on/off feature. What about Congestion Control (Ping Optimizer > Advanced) as that is what will eliminate lag for the most part.

Having a few issues with mine too, can I be added for early access too please?
Added, if you're still having issues after that make a topic and we'll be happy to help.

No major differences in the process, just enter the details I mentioned/they say that is needed, verify you get internet, connect the Sky router to the R3, if possible set it in AP mode and that's it. Don't need to disable WiFi on the R3 unless you specifically want all WiFi devices to connect to the Sky router.

Do you have any suggestions or recommended settings to improve stability and reduce latency in this setup?
Are ALL devices still connected to the router? How have you set Congestion Control/SmartBOOST?

Its sufficient but its end of service and on very old software and won't receive any more updates. I'd suggest a second hand XR500 instead if you could get one on budget
-
I can't guarantee that, networking has many variables, if there are closer servers to you then it is possible you could improve your ping. I would however strongly suggest you don't get the XR300 and choose a different model, ideally our own Netduma R3 which is current and so latest software and will continue to get updates.

Please add me, I have an R3.
BTW. I am not seeing the Dallas/Fort Worth servers for Warzone anymore using Ping Heatmpap since call of duty update... This caused me not to be able to connect to any games as host. I removed the Geo Filter and it works but now I am connecting to a higher ping rate location. Hopefully there is a fix somewhere in these threads...
Added. The servers that appear on Ping Heatmap don't affect your ability to connect to servers, you can still use the Geo-Filter to force the servers you want to connect to, assuming the servers are still available

I am having issues with the PPPoE as well on my R3, my router has a direct connection to the fiber converter.
Is it possible that I could be added to the Early Access as well perhaps?
And I have KPN and that needs: PPPoE & VLAN
It does work, but my internet is inconsistent when it comes to connection quality. (video buffering, laggie games) and I have fiber 1000/1000 Mbps that the R3 can't reach. So I often switch my R3 back to my XR500 for bigger downloads.Added. If it's not disconnecting then I don't think that's related to PPPoE. I'd suggest making a new topic and we can help further there

Just gone back to BO6 in anticipation of playing the BO7 beta tomorrow. The turning-whilst-ADSed-and-strafing issue is even worse!
I'm wondering if it could be due to my Vodafone router not having a bridge mode?
As long as the router is in the Vodafone DMZ and you have all devices connected to the router (none to the vodafone router) then no it's nothing to do with bridge mode or the router itself. It's very likely just a higher player count at the moment putting strain on the servers - I believe they use the same servers every year so the same servers are probably being used for both games at the same time
-
In theory yes it's possible if you don't require coax and Sky allow you to use a third party router instead of their main router - I think you may just need to enter a DHCP identifier to do so
-
Let us know how you get on!
-
Thanks for the IDs, we'll double check them
-
You can forget about the bridge/DMZ aspect then, that doesn't apply to you.
Where are you testing the speeds exactly? What do you get via a wired PC to speedtest.net? What is your ping shown in game and through the Geo-Filter?
Have you entered your speeds into the router?
How is Congestion Control setup (Ping Optimizer > Advanced)?
How have you setup SmartBOOST?
What game are you playing?
What platform are you playing on and how is it connected, via ethernet or WiFi?
How have you setup the Geo-Filter? -
Okay thanks, you said it happened 2 weeks ago, was anything changed physically or via settings? I've given you Early Access, please upgrade to that and see if it improves https://forum.netduma.com/forum/151-netduma-r3-early-access/
-
Okay so you have internet and you're getting the correct speeds, that's great so there isn't an issue that warrants an exchange so it does matter. What do you mean your connection sucks exactly? If not all your devices are connected to the R3 then SmartBOOST/Congestion Control won't be able to do much as they don't control your entire network so you're essentially then just relying on the Geo-Filter.
What game are you playing?
How have you setup the Geo-Filter?
What is the ping shown in game and what does it show on the Geo-Filter?
How have you setup Congestion Control (Ping Optimizer > Advanced)?
-
You do have internet over ethernet just the speeds that are heavily reduced right?
By you only have your PC wired to the R3 does that mean all other devices are connected to the ISP modem/router or they're connected via WiFi to the R3? They all should be connected to the R3, they can take bandwidth away from the router if they're connected to the ISP modem/router and so could be contributing to the issue.
I appreciate you've set everything properly but I still need to know the answers to the questions.
- Have you entered your speeds into the router?
- How have you setup Congestion Control?
- How have you setup SmartBOOST?
- If you test on speedtest.net specifically, not just on the search engine page, what does it report?
- Please provide a screenshot of the WAN & LAN settings pages.
-
Keep us posted! Perhaps disable any protections in WAN just in case it thinks its an issue and blocks it. The beta fix will be based on the very latest I think so makes sense
-
Could you try in an incognito window/another browser and see if you get the same issue please?
-
Have you got any port forwarding rules that cover the same port shown on the VPN service page/do you have the DMZ enabled? If so disable then try again. Otherwise try another port instead anyway and see if the same occurs
-
Just to clarify, do you have internet over ethernet? Is it just the speeds that are heavily reduced?
- What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode
- Are ALL devices connected to the R3?
- Have you entered your speeds into the router?
- How have you setup Congestion Control?
- How have you setup SmartBOOST?
- Where are you testing the speeds?
- What firmware version are you on?
Please provide a screenshot of the WAN & LAN settings pages.
