foxtel hub doesn't work with netduma?

Hi

When I log into netduma it says my router needs to be set up dmz but the ip address of netduma keeps changing all the time. Therefore I start right at the beginning and do my best to configure my netduma as per the community video posted on this forum, but I am finding it difficult because the router is a foxtel hub and the instructions given just seem too hard as it assumes I know how to do a lot of the stuff on my own like set up dhcp addresses to reserve etc. 

Also when i connect my tv box (foxtel iq3) to the netduma there is no internet access therefore all streaming and downloading is impossible.

When i click on the links to support pages through the netduma website and email i am given an error message.

I really need some help to get going, I only bought the netduma in the first place because I have recently moved to Australia and have found that gaming is near impossible due to bad servers and poor internet, and after seeing the big "NO LAG etc" advertised on the website i thought it might help. So far its been dog shit and i feel like i may have wasted 330 dollars on something that is impossible to use.

I have added my netduma address to the default dmz on my isp router/modem and ticked it. However, I can not see how to reserve an address in my foxtel/netgear v6510 router. Is that part essential?

 

If your IP address on the Netduma does indeed keep changing then it's a pretty important step. Is there no DHCP / Static IP / IP Reservation section on there?

 

Otherwise just see if the DMZ lasts I guess. Has it worked so far in giving you Internet access etc?

Its stayed the same for 48 hours, so i suspect its not changing. i just sent this to support, to show where i am with it.

 

ok, so I am in australia and have a foxtel isp modem/router netgear v6510. I am trying to improve my playstation experience on black ops 3 and fortnite, i suffer from ping that sits around 50-70ms. I know this can be improved because the local gaming spot runs it at 25-45ms on pcs. 

 
So i plugged it in to the router into slot 1 ethernet and then into slot 1 ethernet on the neduma and it found it, i set up and began playing. I took the tour and configured the geo-filter and congestion and added the playstation to the hyper thingy. I didn't see any difference and experienced some issues...i then enabled the dmz on my router and put in the address as stated on the netduma interface, still issues. 
 
some of which include not be able to use the netduma wifi with my iq3 box which is basically like a skyplus back in the UK it can see it but no intenet services can be used. Ping is exactly the same and now Fortnite randomly times out in the middle of games, connection time out. I cant hear friends in a mic party some of the time, other times i can and it randomly goes off. I have NAT type 2 still. I also cant open the upgrade page on my chrome browser 
 
I have had to completely unplug it, its done nothing so far. Please tell me there is an easy fix, because reading the forums of hundreds of pages isn't realistic. I have only basic understanding of how these things work and its getting far too complicated.
 
* i also found this thread, the guy has the same router as me, but is bridging a possibility for me? i dont know how or even what that means, but i suspect its going down that route.

The best I could find on putting your Netgear v6510 into Bridge Mode is this page: https://kb.netgear.com/24105/What-is-bridge-mode-and-how-do-I-set-it-up-on-my-Nighthawk-router

 

Hopefully your Netgear should have that setting. Personally I'm not familiar with Foxtel boxes so I might rope Fraser in on this thread if that bridge mode solution doesn't work out.

ok so i followed the link and the instructions on how to bridge, but there is no 'wireless bridge' option in advanced settings at all. I tried to locate it by using the router manual but there is no mention of it. 

 

I had a ticket in support as botduma couldn't help me and it was Fraser who emailed me. I replied to him the message I relayed to you so hopefully he will get back with some answers about foxtel

 

other than that any suggestions?

Don't think bridge mode will work on the hub you have. Heres a guide for one similar to yours, I imagine the options will be the same. 

 

Go to page 73 for setting up a static IP for the R1. That way it won't change at all. You could also mirror this on the R1 side but should be no need. Then input that IP address into the DMZ section in WAN Setup. I would then advise disabling the WiFi on the hub so the R1 controls all devices. Then follow this guide: https://community.foxtel.com.au/t5/Foxtel-iQ3/How-to-set-up-your-iQ3-on-your-network-without-DHCP/td-p/109627to try connecting the TV box to the R1.

Nope, not happening. I have followed every instruction. Spent 3 hours tonight alone to configure the settings based on the ultimate guide on youtube and the advice on here and it makes no difference to my gaming, ping stays exactly the same. I imagine it works better in the UK with multiple servers, in Australia we have 1 server in Sydney for both Fortnite and Call of Duty...the games I like to play. Its not working well with the Foxtel modem and it needs to be plug in and play really, far too technical. The user interface was super glitchy, freezing, crashing and links wouldn't open. I have wasted $330 on it. It's going on Ebay with the other Australian Netduma's where they are selling for $150 and below. Gutted...I will have to save up for the Nighthawk or whatever its called which can replace my Foxtel and be more compatible with the OS for netduma. Was worth a shot, thanks for the help. It needed to be clear how technical you would need to be to use this product on the website.

With almost all modem types the Netduma is plug and play - modem configuration is among the least talked about issues here on this forum. It's unfortunate that you've encountered so many issues with this Foxtel box, and I'll be taking a note of just how much of a pain it is.

 

Before you go selling it on Ebay, how long has it been since you bought the router? You could be entitled to a refund if you're within 14 days of receipt.

 

We've got plenty of Netduma users in Australia who love the thing, but it's unfortunate that your only servers are located in Sydney. I've no doubt that if you could get the R1 working properly you would see some great benefits. I'm also not sure what you mean by freezing / crashing, but those types of issues are extremely rare and likely caused by your browser rather than the R1.

 

It's your call - we can continue to help you to properly configure your router and use it to its full potential, or you can try to get a refund / ebay it. Either way, let us know :)
