Congestion Control (CC) How does it works

Recommended Posts

Hello Guys,

I would like to know how exactly does the congestion control works ?

Because I've noticed that when my xbox one or ps4 start an update or when I'm downloading a movie the other laptops at home (me, my father, my brother etc ...) start having trouble browsing the internet (even if it's juste checking our email ... it's really slow).

Can you help me set it up right, so I can evenly play on my consoles and use my laptops at the same time ?

Thanks.

As Crossy said set your sliders at 70 % and it will give your internet some headroom so everything can function properly.

The CC is one of the best features on the duma, take advantage of it's many benefits... :D

Ok I'll try it.

But what if some other devices are still linked to the main modem router ? (because I have a distance of 30 meters + several walls) so not all the devices in the house can connect to the duma.

And those devices get a slow connection, does it mean that the netduma is consuming too much bandwitch ?

I would connect all devices to the Netduma or you will create local network congestion that will make you lag.

All device must be through the Netduma to use its congestion control a massive feature of this router.

Ok but they are too far appart from each other.

Far from its WIfi signal or to wired via Ethernet ?

You could use PLA adaptors that use your electric plug sockets to pump the signal round your property.

well I've moved the netduma because of the problem I had with powerline adaptors.

But it's ok it seems that by putting both at 70 % the devices on the netduma are working and on the other one too.(other familly members can check their email, ebay etc ...)

And when I'm downloading on my laptop I put a limit at 300 k download and 12 k upload. so it's ok.

Although it isn't ideal to have some devices connected to your other router, if the devices that use lots of bandwidth are connected to the Netduma you should still see the effect of congestion control :)
