Recently came back on Warzone and am having endless trouble with getting the Geo-Filter to force me on to USA servers (I am from UK).

Tried first of with an old R1 I had laying spare. That didn't work. Thinking because it's just outdated I swapped my main router for the XR1000 at my parent's house. From setting it up it worked instantly, and was able to connect to East-Coast servers with no issue at all.

I then turned off my Xbox, set my Geo-Filter to West-Coast and I had the same issues as I did with the R1: Game would say searching for a match with sub 30ms ping, before going up into the high tens before eventually forcing me on to a EU server anyway. Note that with both routers do not show me the connected server in the Geo-Filter.

Connecting to a VPN via my laptop I can get servers on both sides of the US straight away, so given that fact it's apparent this isn't some ping-limit that Co-Pilot was making out (ping was as high as over 140ms on US Western servers.

To answer the inevitable I have: factory reset the router (XR1000),

De-added, and added back my Xbox to the Geo-Filter multiple times (Geo-Filter is set to on) and am 110% certain I am adding the right device,

Made sure strict mode is on, ping assist set to zero, resynced the cloud multiple times now. Auto-ping is off and fast-search I have toggled on and off with no effect,

Reset my Xbox by holding the power button, making my desired changes in Geo-Filter and then rebooting the game to no avail.

Looking at similar posts, it's clear other people have had a similar issue to this within the past year. Is this Activision trying their best to block IP addresses from connecting to servers they shouldn't be (hence VPNs seemingly working fine?), or is this an issue on the router side that is yet to be properly resolved?

Is there any workaround for this without having to connect my Xbox to my laptop to make use of a free USA VPN, or something outside the control of the Netduma software developers?

Double check the device you think your Xbox is has the same IP in the Device Manager as it does in the console network settings. If so,

  1. Quit the application/game/client completely
  2. Remove device from the Geo-Filter
  3. Resync from the Geo-Filter Map menu
  4. Re-add the device to the Geo-Filter
  5. Set up the Geo-Filter how you like
  6. Wait 2 minutes
  7. Boot up application/game/client

It's essential the Geo-Filter is enabled before the game client or the game have been launched. If you change Geo-Filter settings when you're on the game then you will need to restart the game for those changes to take effect, otherwise it will use the previous Geo-Filter settings and appear not to be working.
