Netduma R3 not getting full broadband speed

Hi,

I am writing to ask for assistance in understanding an ongoing issue with my home broadband setup.

I am currently on a 500 Mb Virgin Media broadband package. When I run a speed test directly through the Virgin Media router, I consistently receive speeds close to what I am paying for — around 470–500 Mb download and 50 Mb upload.

However, when I run the same speed test through my Netduma R3 router, the download speed often drops dramatically to around 60–80 Mb, while the upload speed remains normal. This issue has happened several times. On previous occasions, resetting the Netduma R3 temporarily restored the correct speeds, but the problem keeps returning.

I have changed some settings as I am getting owned on Black Ops 7 🤣🤣 so I am unsure if I have done something making  the Netduma R3  limiting the speed. I would appreciate guidance on what might be causing this and how to prevent the speed from dropping in the future.

Thank you for your time and support.

Kind regards, Pete

Salut !

Hi Krush and Fraser thank you both for replying .

This is what I got earlier but can try Speedtest aswell.

Okay thanks Fraser so all good with the Netduma R3 I was concerned trying to bring latency down for gaming I have made mistakes with Netduma settings .Playing between 26ms and 31ms latency but other gamers are saying they are 16ms so I believe they are closer to the server if that’s right .

As mentioned, people will be closer/further away to the server so that will impact it. Given you're in Scotland your closest server for any game is almost certainly in London. Then your location, for example if you're in a major city or the highlands would impact it as well. Also just the general routing your ISP takes to the game servers. Essentially, there are so many variables to consider that you can't really compare your network experience to anyone else - I'd even go so far as saying not to compare to your neighbour as even then the quality of the cables feeding your houses can impact it, the amount of devices being actively used at a time etc.
