Doughboy
I was suggested by Fraser on Twitter to ask about my experience with the r3 when I play bo6 I always feel slightly behind. Gun fight’s connection etc. I try optimizing my ping before it would start at like 30 now it starts at 200. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 4 Administrators Share Posted March 4 What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode Are ALL devices connected to the R3? What are the speeds you pay for/receive? Have you entered those speeds into the router? How have you setup Congestion Control? How have you setup SmartBOOST? What platform are you playing on and how is it connected, via ethernet or WiFi? How have you setup the Geo-Filter? Doughboy
It’s connected to a att gate way BGW 320. I’m not familiar with DMZ through that gateway for Att exactly. I have fiber 1k up and down. I have entered those speeds. I set up my Congestion control based on my ping optimizer. Yes I have set up smart boost. I’m playing on ps5 and pc both eithernet. I set up the geo filter to my specific address.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 6 Administrators Share Posted March 6 Copy the WAN IP from WAN Settings on the R3, access the BGW and find the DMZ/exposed host feature and enter that in then save. On the BGW then set the R3 to have the same IP via the static/reserved IP section, could be in LAN/DHCP settings. What Congestion Control settings did Ping Optimizer suggest? How did you set up SmartBOOST exactly? How wide is your Geo-Filter radius? Using Ping Assist, Geo-Latency etc?
Doughboy
It suggested 100 100 I set up smart boost for my ps5 and my gaming pc. With priority being for gaming. My geo filter is only 313 miles. Ping assist is active geo latency I’m uncertain about.
Doughboy
I don’t know where to put the information you told me to save from the wan. This is the page I should be on correct?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 7 Administrators Share Posted March 7 At those percentages it isn't doing anything so change Congestion Control manually to 70% each. You may want to expand your radius to cover a few more servers. Disable Ping Assist and disable Geo-Latency if it is enabled (it's in the same menu as Ping Assist). You could do that instead yes but check NAT/Gaming and Firewall Advanced first to see if you can find the DMZ option.

AT&T does not offer a true "modem mode" or DMZ. Instead, ATT offers IP Passthrough, which functions similarly by forwarding the public IP to your own router while disabling most gateway features.
