Couple of reasons - when we released the R3, we were only just starting to reach speeds above 1Gbps and it's only now becoming a bit more common. Also, the cost, releasing hardware that at the time only a handful of people could fully utilize but everyone would have to pay for is a bit unfair. It's likely we'll have hardware like that in the future as it becomes more commonplace.
