Permanently reduce bandwidth for a device?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was just wondering if there was a reverse smartboost to reduce the amount of bandwidth, both up and down, that a device can take? The reason is my NAS can be uploading/downloading a lot, and when it does, it seems to affect other devices on the network significantly, ie, my lad and I were just playing Rocket League together and suffered horrific lag due to the NAS downloading (despite our consoles being in the priority devices). Is there a way I can set the NAS to download at max one 1mb for example? The same as upload?

The R3 doesn't know how to classify the activities, most are classed as unknown.

Thanks

No not specifically but this is the kind of thing Congestion Control should be stopping, how do you have this set? Also take off the NAS as a priority if it is added and make sure gaming/the gaming devices have been added.

Yeah, you'd think, but this has been happening for a while. I'm getting sick of pausing the downloads. It cripples the network, and no one can barely do anything. It steals so much bandwidth.

The NAS is definitely not a priority device. How do you mean have it set?

What percentages are you using for Congestion Control and what mode is it on?

What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g. R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode. Are ALL devices connected to the R3?

Its a BT Openreach Huawei EchoLife HG612 FTTC VDSL Fibre Modem, just straight into the R3 as PPoE. What else should I else be setting?

This could be due to using PPPoE on the R3, what firmware version are you on currently?

I thought pppoe was now supported better on the r3? Im on 4.0.219
