Wintercabin Posted March 28, 2024 Posted March 28, 2024 I name and list all devices on my network using the device manager. I use the XR500. There is a device called (null) and it's barely using upload per the traffic monitoring. I have gone through all devices in my house and have no clue what this is! Anyone else seen this and know what it is? FYI - I tried turning off the private wifi option on my iPhone (heard it creates a NULL) and it didn't go away. any advice is welcome
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 28, 2024 Administrators Posted March 28, 2024 Copy the MAC address then use a mac vendor lookup site to see if that gives you an idea of what it might be
Wintercabin Posted March 28, 2024 Author Posted March 28, 2024 tried this but doesn't really help identifying it. I blocked it and it still shows activity on the network monitor
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 28, 2024 Administrators Posted March 28, 2024 Does it match the MAC address of the router itself?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 28, 2024 Administrators Posted March 28, 2024 What's the MAC address? I'll have a look, you can PM it
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 28, 2024 Administrators Posted March 28, 2024 From what I can see it's a Unicast device, most likely smart, e.g. a lightbulb, does that ring a bell? If you block it on the Device Manager some device will stop working as it should
Wintercabin Posted March 28, 2024 Author Posted March 28, 2024 Hmm, we don't have smart light bulbs. I have some RGB strips in my office but unplugged those and it still showed. What's odd is that at the top of the hour, it came off the device list..
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 29, 2024 Administrators Posted March 29, 2024 Bizarre! If it happens again block it and you should be able to figure out what it is.
Wintercabin Posted March 29, 2024 Author Posted March 29, 2024 It's been blocked. Nothing has been functioning out of the ordinary yet Netduma Fraser 1
