MuRF FuRY
Just a quick question. @mannrs @Netduma Fraser Why can't you activate Internet Optimser when upgrading to the Ultrafast Telstra 700/40 plan.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted March 5 Administrators Share Posted March 5 I believe it's because the max speed with QoS is limited and you wouldn't reach the full speeds on that plan

mannrs
Thats right - When enabled with all features, our Gen 2 Smart Modem's hit a performance ceiling of ~450Mbps and Gen 3 hit around ~700Mbps. So we dont offer it to Ultrafast because of the potential to restrict a customers maximum achievable plan speed. There is however imminent progress in using on-chip hardware acceleration capabilities to process the prioritised traffic at full rates and solve this issue. So are you saying this could be an option in the future on Gen 2 & Gen 3 Modems, considering NBN has just announced a plan to increase speeds across all teers in the next 12 months, as you are going to have more customers hitting the Ultrafast speeds due to the cheaper costs in the future. mannrs
Yep - definitely for the Gen 3, hopefully for the Gen 2 gateways.

It's just I am testing out the ultrafast speeds and am missing DumaOS Internet optimiser functions.
mannrs
In 2024, but being anymore specific and I'd be setting myself to be a liar, just because lots of other factors determine when and what updates go into the firmwares which changes month to month.

Would be great if you release firmware update notes here so we know what's been fixed in the next update.

I am running the current released version for DumOS and the current released firmware of the Gen 3 modem. As for special secretive, I'd say no. I've just been a very active user who has been given the opportunity to have internet optimiser activated on the 700/40 plan to test at my own risk. So far it runs ok.
