Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 20 Administrators Share Posted February 20 Do you have speed test bypass enabled/disabled? What percentages are you using? In some cases SmartBOOST priorities can interfere with the test results. What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g. R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode

E.g. R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode Ive tried speed test bypass on and off, same results.. I’ve tried different % for the test.. 50/50, 60/60, 75/75, 80/80.. I have the router connected to my xfinity gateway(modem) I haven’t had any issues until yesterday.. and I don’t know why suddenly my cpu usage is high once again.. it was low in 20-40% range.. but it’s gotten high as hell in the last 24-48 hours.. router was all set to my liking, had a A+ for bufferbloat and such.. but now I’m not.. I haven’t changed a single thing on my end.. im going to exchange my xfinity modem for a new one right now to see if it helps.. but if not then im lost.. Proud R3 Owner
Best results I've had on waveform was too disable ipv6 on WAN/LAN, set my Internet speed manually lower than what I get by about 70%, set my sliders to cut my actual ISP speed to 50% and set CC to always. I also had telemetry, remote access and spanning tree disabled. Hope this helps. TheTerpinator710

I set it to 300mbps and fixed my issue.. how freaking bizarre.. definitely a bug that needs to be looked into.. but glad I fixed my issue.. back to A+ score on bufferbloat.. thank goodness Proud R3 Owner
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 20 Administrators Share Posted February 20 You shouldn't need to set your speeds that low. Bufferbloat only occurs when your connection is saturated i.e. all your bandwidth is used up, with Congestion Control that will not happen so while I understand the want for that high grade it's not actually as necessary as you think. But the thing is, I’ve been testing all this with only my Duma connected to the xfinity gateway with nothing else connected.. not even via WiFi.. I dont understand why it would be “saturated” if nothing else is connected.. I went from An A+ with 0ms for both Upload and download.. but 2 days ago when I noticed when gaming that my hit registration was acting odd, I went and did the test and it was a C with like 50-60Ms ping for download.. and was still giving me odd results yesterday after doing multiple testing(changing out xfinity modem for a new one, factory reset R3, downgraded/updated R3 and so many different things..) but the only thing that worked was setting my internet speeds to 1/4 of what I pay for.. which is so odd(others have had to do the same) and why suddenly is my cpu usage so high too!? Even on the new firmware.. it fixed it at first, but then got High again.. could the Gpu spikes cause my latency issues?!

So I think the CPU utilisation is perfectly OK when the dashboard is displayed. My R3 doesn't show any other values either. As soon as another menu item is selected beforehand, the CPU is almost between 4-35 with some peaks at 40, even if a massive amount of data is running through the R3... What I have also noticed is that it depends on the device or browser. On some devices, the dashboard continues to run in the background unless you select something else beforehand and on others it does not. The test doesn't saturate your connection so it can't truly reflect what it'll be like, it's an estimate/simulation of what your ping would be like if you were to experience bufferbloat. For a more accurate test I'd suggest using https://support.netduma.com/en/support/solutions/articles/16000074717-how-to-test-your-internet-ping while saturating your connection with downloads. It's best to start with a high value for Congestion Control (on Always), say 95% then do a test, decrease by 10%, test, decrease by 10% etc, until you get to a value that is pretty good and then try 5% either side of that value to see if it can be improved. It's important to note that Download & Upload on Congestion Control don't have to be the same value and that you may have a better experience with differing values. As long as the CPU isn't hitting 100% consistently it shouldn't be causing issues. TheTerpinator710

ChrisG82
Have you connected another device to your modem and checked whether it can connect to the Internet? Maybe your modem is faulty or your Internet line itself? Have you contacted your ISP and asked if there are any general problems? I currently have everything disabled (everything) just to get it to connect to wifi. range is not the same compared to my old XR500 and XR1000. i work remote so internet is essential to me. i was 2 weeks over the return period even though the week after i received it i came to this site for help. very frustrating. look cant even log in,
