Fetuchinee
bought my netdumar3 about a week, week and half ago and have nothing but problems, works fine for the first day then woke up and gaming was unplayable getting packet loss and red high latency every 4-8 seconds. Had a tech come out and give us a new modem and it worked fine for the first day and then i went to optimize my ping using duma os today as soon as i did that everything went back to hell, i dont know what else to do, bout to ask for a full refund and ship this piece of junk back
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 6 Administrators Share Posted February 6 Where are you measuring the packet loss and latency? What is the model of the modem/router the R3 is connected to and how have you set that to ensure all traffic flows to the R3? E.g. R3 in its DMZ, modem/bridge mode The more information you provide the better I can help
Fetuchinee
is there a way you can hop in a discord call so i can better explain, i just got off the phone with our internet provider and he pretty much confirmed its the router i plugged ethernet into modem and everything was fine besides when i plug in router. and i how i measure the packet loss and latency is in game when im skipping around not able to play in my own private match. The modem is an arris TM3402 and i am directly plugged in from router to modem.

TG3NOC1D3
Bro, it is your modem. You probably don't see it when you're the only person using it but when people are on wifi using the router, the Arris TM3402 has the PUMA 6 Chipset issue in it. Do you have another router to plug in? As soon as bandwidth that is more than just a little bit of data is sent across that modem it will cause massive ping spikes. Check this list here- https://lookgadgets.com/articles/intel-puma-modems-list/ darth_revan45
Fetuchinee
then why do i plug my ethernet into my modem and disconnect the router no ping spikes and it works perfectly fine?
TG3NOC1D3
2 minutes ago, Fetuchinee said: then why do i plug my ethernet into my modem and disconnect the router no ping spikes and it works perfectly fine? Because you're barely pushing any data across the modem while gaming. When there are multiple processes is typically when the issue kicks in. Try hooking another router up and you should see the same issue.
Fetuchinee
i had a tech come out and switch our modems to this one cuz i wanted to use the router and my main source of internet. it was perfectly fine since the tech left and the up into the morning before i decided to optimize my ping in duma os. i highly doubt its that big of a coincidence once i optimize my ping and do steady ping i start having problems..... Fetuchinee
and i didnt ask for this modem our internet provider is not the best i will agree but i seem to have more problems playing on the router then the free junk of a modem they give us then a 240 router i just bought

Like I said, being the only person on the modem probably won't cause the chipset issue to activate. It is typically when a high priority task is being performed that it is going to rear it's ugly head. Like a large download during ping optimizer or the router telling the modem what order to queue packets in would be my best guess. Highly highly recommend trying another router and seeing if the issue follows. If it does, Modem is problem. If it does not, then the router is acting up and then they can help you test further. What firmware are you using on the R3 and did you factory reset it after upgrading the firmware on the router at all since owning it?

And I’m using the newest firm 0.41 or what ever it is. And yea I factory reset with the old modem we had thinking that was the problem when I optimized my ping. Maybe leave the old router hooked up for a bit and game and see if it acts up. Anyone else on the network right now? Maybe run a youtube video over wifi while you game on the old router to simulate a busy network.

Gotcha, well, it sounds like it could definitely be the R3 then. Keep using your old router for now is my best advice till Fraser can sort your issue out. Downgrading is the same way you upgrade, setting > troubleshooting > firmware upgrade and then just upload the older .21 or .23 firmware whatever is on that link I sent you, the other options, turn off smart boost and don't run ping optimizer or any congestion control manually. See if that solves anything.

Well thanks for you help, I’ll try downgrading and see if that works and if I don’t end up getting any help ima just file a dispute with my bank, seems like there’s many other people having my issue and the people willing to help troubleshoot and fix things is slim to none. But I do appreciate your help. lg2021
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 6 Administrators Share Posted February 6 I don't provide live service support so I won't always reply immediately but I will always reply. You mentioned you didn't have the issue until you tried to optimize your ping so what exactly was it you did at that time?

I don't work for their team but I definitely have a love for networking and gaming that keeps me going outside of work. Technology is my thing so I always try to help and educate. Give them a chance to respond and see what they can do, my router is basically a paper weight right now and they are shipping me a replacement that flys out tomorrow. So here's to hoping I can test the new firmware soon and give some feedback.

I was just playing cod and my bullets felt pretty good at beginning and it slowly started to get worse with ping increasing not sure if it was just servers cuz of ranked play or what not but I was like oh I forgot optimize my ping after they put in a new modem so I went back over to duma os and optimized my ping in the middle of the private match just testing things out and I instantly starting packet loss and ping latency up top of the screen in game and couldn’t move and it went back to normal then 5 seconds does it again then again again.
