Hi Netduma team,

i know more important issue to deal with at moment but hear me out. Loving r3 no major issues so far only geo filter sometimes misbehaving and its used as main router for whole house.
I’m more of no lights kinda person (like rgb option to turn off) oh yea its off, now i hate them white led’s enough to ask how much for that code to be written into next possible update? (Damn if needed i will write the code or i will ask someone else to write it for me). If it’s actually possible? If not can engineering confirm if it’s okey to hardware remove it :) i got tools at work to cut then off 🤦🏻🤔🤷🏻😂

Thank you

But the lights serve a purpose.

Scenario: Router is unreachable and youve turned all the lights off. How can you triage what is active and what isnt and even if the router has power if everything has been switched off?

Meanwhile, you could use black electrical tape to cover the lights. 100% removable and you don't void your warranty by opening the router

its all ready done but amount of light shines tru back vents looks like i have wall light mounted there 😂

Highly unlikely in 25 years router lights helped me out exactly once in 2003 i think with adsl phone line connection. So i think they redundant these day’s.
p.s. grab a multimeter and i will see why he aint working 🤷🏻

It's not that easy, we'd have to have one firmware available with it on and one available with it off, we will try this at a later date

If needed i can be a test subject. This can be added to rgb controls? White led on/off?

No that's what I mean, it's a firmware with it off or a firmware with it on, no firmware with controls for it unfortunately.

Oh shame not possible to do it this way but anyways if needed we would help test it.

still hoping one day.

Would it possible to ask hardware team if it’s possible to remove white led’s? Would rather avoid buying another r3 just cause I tried 😂 but seriously if possible ask them no rush cause if possible i would remove them physically.

I don't think I even need to ask really, they would absolutely not recommend you do this and there is no telling what ramifications this would have. I think it's also likely they're soldered to the board.

i dont get it why 2 firmwares are needed for a basic option like this , maybe an option to dim the white leds from 1 to 100% if we cant switch them off ? IT NEEDS TO BE IN RGB CONTROLS , its a premium router for 300$ and we cant have basic features like this after 1 year of dev its really a shame. And its not a small priority, its an HIGH priority since you can disable all of the others leds (and its saying turn off all leds on rgb controls..) its a big big MISS. Thanks for understanding.

I would argue resolving actual issues would be a higher priority, however, if it was as easy as just putting a control option in there then we would. From what I gather it's a kernel level change and not something that can be toggled on the go.
