Unable to split Wifi bands

Recommended Posts

Hi folks, after updating the firmware to v4.0.23 I am no longer able to split the WiFi bands into 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
It was working fine before but now the Confirm button is greyed out when I try to modify the bands.
I've rebooted the router a number of times.
When it says choose which WiFi band you want to split, I can see both bands, which would suggest that they're already split, yet there's no option to merge bands so they must be merged.
I've tried to split by trying each band in turn but as mentioned I am unable to Confirm any actions as the button is greyed out.
I don't see the 5GHz band in my list of available networks on my mac laptop so they must me merged.
I need both bands as I'm unable to mirror my laptop screen using the 2.4GHZ band.
Thanks in advance for your help/ thoughts.

Pete.

Hi @Pete Shaw,

May not help but have you tried clearing your browser cache and trying again. I've had a couple of times where the interface goes a bit funny (options dissapearing   e.g.) until I did this and then everything was fine again.

Hi !
have you done a factory reset that might also help in addition to clearing the browser cache or reopening the admin page

Yeah I did all that before updating the firmwear.
Cleared all the data and cache and rebooted the router before installing the update.

When you click to choose which band you want to modify change the name e.g. NetdumaR3-5GHz then you'll be able to save it and you'll then see both bands able to be connected to.

That's the strangest thing. It seems to be working the opposite way.
I could already see 2 bands in the advanced settings Netduma R3 2.4GHz and Netduma R3 5GHz.
I could only see the 2.4GHz option on my laptop's Network and my choice in DumaOS was to SPLIT WIFI BANDS even though It said there were already two bands, so I went through the process of 'splitting' them by clicking on the 2.4GHz band, renamed it and saved, then the 5GHz band disappeared on DumaOS, however the 5GHz band is now visible in my network options on my laptop and I can now only see one band (2.4GHz) in DumaOS and my option is to MERGE WIFI BANDS.
You can see the 5GHz band 5th from bottom of the list and I can connect to it.
Am I going mad?

That is a bit strange. Merge the WiFi, reboot the router from the interface, wait a few minutes, access, split the bands, change the names of both, reboot from the interface, wait a few minutes then see if they show up correctly

This seems to have worked!
Very strange.
Thanks for your help again!
