Device Recognition

Recommended Posts

Ever since the update to v4.0.23 my PS5 isn't connecting to the internet right away. It is connected via LAN cable and still when I turn it on, it shows my status as invisible and then the status disappears. I do a connection test. which works without an issue every time but when I go to get on a game, it says that I can't connect and I need to connect to the internet. When I back out and close the game, it then shows me as online with the green dot and then it allows me to log-in. I am not able to just log-in and have downloads start going immediately, I have to do several steps first. I've never encountered anything like this before. The device manager shows that my PS5 is connected. Maybe this has to do with SmartBoost or something?

Do you have the console set to turn off to an instant on/standby mode or is it being shut down fully and turned on fully each time?

I turn if off completely each time.

We are aware of the internet being a bit slow to connect which we're looking into but once connected there shouldn't be any issues. When you go on the game and get that message, is the device added to the Geo-Filter? If so if you disable it does it still happen?

When I go into the game and get the message, it just remains as being inactive. When I back out to the main screen, it then shows the green dot next to my profile picture. I have to close the game completely and re-start it up and it works fine. Sometimes it will show the dot like I'm offline and sometimes there isn't a dot at all. The network connection check never fails. When it shows as me being offline, sometimes a internet connection check will fix it and sometimes I have to log into the game and back out. If there is not dot showing, the network check still works but I have to log into the game and go back and close the game for it to show my green dot and for the game to work. Basically, it's like my PS5 is either not recognizing the internet or the R3 is not recognizing the PS5 for some reason.

If you turn on the console then wait 30 seconds before doing anything on it, then go to the game etc does it work then? We are aware of an issue in a delay to connect so it's properly what is happening here

If it pops up as showing me as being offline, then yes it does but it takes more like 2-3 minutes. If there is no indicator showing next to my profile, then nothing happens until I try to go in and play the game.

Hey @White_Mamba  As a test try connecting wirelessly and see if that connects properly..

Again this is just as a test.. I know playing wired is always better..

Give that ago once and report back what you experience.

Thanks!

Zippy.

Good suggestion above for a test. Otherwise could you do it via ethernet, just wait for it to connect then get the logs from the router please? Also let me know the time you turned it on roughly and then the time it actually connected

It seemed to connect today within 2-3 minutes. Wifi actually takes longer to connect but other than the time it takes, nothing is different. I didn't get a look at the time I started my PS5 and the time it connected though. I do kind of like that the system logs are kind of hidden so that people are looking at them and freaking out and filling the forum up with needless worries. I'm just used to the XR450 which connected instantaneously.
