EA - NHL 24

.23 firmware. 1 gig fiber hardwired for PS5. Cross play off. I'm having a lot of issues with delayed gameplay and trying to connect to servers. I'm in North Carolina and my closest server is Washington but supposedly there is one in Georgia. Next server would be Columbus OH for me. On my netduma I blocked Washington because it's completely unplayable with delay, might as well read 200 ping with the delay. Have my geofilter set for around Georgia, Columbus, and the Norfolk VA area (blocked Washington server and it does work in blocking me from that). Norfolk isn't a server though and seems to be some sort of P2P connection possibly? Netduma doesn't give any ping readings to this "server" when in game so I don't know but it always connects me here. I was told there was a Georgia server but I don't see it on my map ever as an option.

Asus router when I had this:

-Georgia server? I get 8-9 ping. Washington 19-20. Columbus around 30.

Netduma router with steady ping:

-Washington blocked so never connect. Some reason I always connect to a "server" ? in Norfolk VA but the ping is never consistent nor the gameplay. Some games hover from 10-14 ping and others up to 32 on average (no spikes that's just what they are when connecting to that). Games that are fine are against people in the US but for some reason I only connect to people in Quebec 8/10 game and it is always completely unplayable with delay.

-Have my geofilter set for Ohio to capture the Columbus server and I can never find a game on this server, just never works with netduma. Not sure why I can't ever get a game here to avoid the Quebec lag.

-Keep an area around Norfolk and this is the only place I ever connect, not sure what I'm supposed to do to try to connect in Georgia or Columbus. Have also put my geofilter to dallas because I get decent gameplay there and I also never connect. Just makes zero sense I'm playing Quebec players 8/10 games and feels like they are playing on their server in Montreal and I'm playing from NC so delayed and unplayable.

My geo filter keeps blocking the Columbus OH server for some reason even though it's within my geofilter and I checked the allow button. This must be why I never connect. Not sure why the server shows up within the geofilter when booting the game up and then the netduma just has the red bar saying the server is blocked when it's not.

Georgia server now showing up when booting up the game but same as Columbus switches to blocked for no reason. Any fix?

What firmware version are you on currently? Do this:

  • Disable GeoLatency
  • Disable PingAssist (set it to 0,0)
  • Enable Strict Mode
  • Disable Fast Search

Then restart game or wait 10 minutes (in the lobby in the game). If that doesn't work, reboot PC/Console and it should work then - keep this in mind when you play.

Also:

  1. Quit the application/game/client completely
  2. Remove device from the Geo-Filter
  3. Resync from the Geo-Filter Map menu
  4. Re-add the device to the Geo-Filter
  5. Set up the Geo-Filter how you like
  6. Wait 2 minutes
  7. Boot up application/game/client

Then see if it works any better.

I don’t think there is a server in Columbus for NHL. It might be for battlefield or some other frostbite game. I’d also love to connect to Columbus, I allowed only that server and never got a game. Any help with NHL and Netduma would be huge because the EA servers are trash.

If you do the above does that not help at all?

Netduma Fraser - is there any way to get NHL 24 in the Ping Heatmap?  I think it would really help those of us struggling with the EA NHL 24 servers.  I live in Texas and regularly get severs on the west coast and central Canada, when both are completely out of my GeoFilter.

Ping Heatmap just pings a list of servers, it doesn't affect your ability to connect to servers at all.

  • Disable GeoLatency
  • Disable PingAssist (set it to 0,0)
  • Enable Strict Mode
  • Disable Fast Search

I understand that, but I think the point was more, we all think the EA NHL servers are somewhere they're not.  A post up the chain thinks there are severs in Ohio, but they are apparently not.  There used to be (2 yrs ago, NHL 22) servers in Dallas (less than 200mi away), but now everything I connect to is in VA / DC (1500mi), Ore / Calif (1900mi) or Central Canada (1750mi).  It would be helpful to know where they are is all.

I did use the following directions:

  • Disable GeoLatency
  • Disable PingAssist (set it to 0,0)
  • Enable Strict Mode
  • Disable Fast Search

Then restart game or wait 10 minutes (in the lobby in the game). If that doesn't work, reboot PC/Console and it should work then.

It seems to work better on my R3 4.0.20

Also, I received the R3 -*****.23 but for whatever reason my R3 has rejected it both times I've tried to upload it.  The R3 comes back with a signature not valid.

I would use this thread and post the server ID's to each server you are seeing and where, then have the team verify their locations are correct.

I can certainly get the team to do a Ping Heatmap update for it, that's no problem at all, as you mentioned it will probably help quite a lot. Reboot the router then try to upgrade and it should work then
