before i got this router i used to get 1ms to 2ms to my gateway now it will spike up to 6 and 5 ms

It could be the above, it could also be the ethernet cable connecting the R3 to the gateway, try with another and see if it continues, if it does it'll be the above. Should be resolved early next week.

Is there any idea when this fw update will be released? Had to shelve my R3 for this reason as my other router has a 'normal' ping for me. Even though the software and test results are in favor of the r3. It made my gameplay feel a lot worse.

Probably today or tomorrow but can't say for sure
