Jumppy_15
Just a quick question, so I can better understand how Steady Ping works. If I put my Geo-Fiter around a Server that I usually get a Ping of 30ms (In Strict Mode & Ping Assist off) and then use the "Expert Steady Ping" to set a Target Ping of only 10ms, what will happen? Because I'm inputting a Target Ping lower than I normally get to the Server, and the way Steady Ping works is that I should really be inputting a value of > 30ms, so I'm curious to know what a lower value does, will it just ignore the 10ms Target Ping? Or does it default back to the "Simple" Steady Ping mode?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 8 Administrators Share Posted January 8 I believe it'll just not stabilize/not work at all but I would be interested to see if that's what is happening or if you're seeing unexpected behavior
Jumppy_15
Ok I haven't tested the behavior enough as yet but I will let you know. However, instead of it just "not working" (since pings can fluctuate all the time and what used to be on average a 30ms ping Sever has now risen to a 40ms over time) then my initial Target Ping which was set to 35ms will no longer be valid and not stabilize. I think you should modify/adjust how Steady Ping works so that if the Target Ping value is lower it flips from Expert back to how Simple works? Zippy
Hello @Jumppy_15 Does your ping stabilize in Simple Mode at all? Also if your average ping normally was 30ms then its likely to rise to about 38ms-40ms.. In Simple Mode.. That is if your ping stays fairly stable.. Imo I feel Expert Mode would be better to use if one has a connection where there connection requires a higher ping thresh hold to buffer the ping spikes.. I currently use Simple Mode just because it feels good and seems to be more automatic for me.. It stabilizes my ping fairly nicely.. Zippy. That'd be the case even with the simple mode, if the server wildly fluctuates it wouldn't be able to prevent it but if you know that happens then that's when setting it higher to compensate will help
