Netduma R3 Feedback - Good Things :) | Issues >.< | Things I Miss :(

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just received my R3 earlier today. Has since been updated to the .23 firmware. Just for context I am coming from a XR1000 running DumaOS 3.2.

Good Things:
-Web UI seems to be much faster than the XR1000
-Glad to get updates MUCH quicker
-Don't really mind the UI

Issues/Bugs noticed:
-Considerably weaker wifi signal on 2.4GHz compared to the XR1000, followed suggestions made by Fraser in a different post, no luck.
-Geo filter showing Apex Legends Servers incorrectly. Logging into the Singapore 1(in-game) shows up as Colorado on Geo-filter.
-Guest Wifi connected devices show up under "LAN" rather than Wifi. Ideally a separate branch similar to how it was on XR1000 (DumaOS 3.2)

Things I'm missing from the XR1000 (DumaOS 3.2)
-Geo Filter: Ping Limiter ?
-Device Manager: Import/Export Device Names (Would really love this back as its much easier to edit a text file and just drop it back onto the router)
-Maybe I'm picky but could we have the "Pin" functionality in the future to declutter the "Dashboard" page. I would really like to have the "Device Manager" tab on the home screen to see connected devices
-Device Manager: "Full" page list view as was in 3.2

Thanks

To comment on your points:

  • The team will be working to improve WiFi
  • Could you provide the ID for that server please so we can correct the location?
  • Good catch, I'll pass it on.
  • Do you mean Ping Assist? It's on the Geo-Filter page :r3menu > Settings
  • Import/export has been requested for potential future inclusion
  • I'm not sure if the customizable dashboard will be coming back now
  • The table view? While you can see that specifically you can see the list of devices next to the tree view

  • Wifi -T.Y. Hoping to see improvements
  • Mismatched Apex Server locations - Tested in firing range, didn't get a chance to note down the ones while i was playing on BR servers
    • Apex: in-game server: Sydney | On Duma OS Server ID: U5UQZD, U5UNVH showing as Buffalo, Ontario
    • Apex: in-game server: Singapore 1| On Duma OS Server ID: 101EUPI showing as Pontian Kecil, Indonesia
    • Apex: in-game server: Singapore 1 | On Duma OS Server ID: DZXURO showing as Oklahoma
  • Ping Assist: Sorted (T.Y.)
  • T.Y. For the Import/Export request.
  • Something to see overlay of the network on the homepage. Maybe a couple of different variants of the dashboards if it cant be customized.
  • List/Table view correct, the current one is very basic. If possible something that includes: Name, MAC, IP, WLAN/Guest/LAN/5GHz, Online Status (An indicator here is suffice like currently)

Great thanks for the IDs, will pass those on. Different variants of the dashboard is a great idea, I will add that to the list.

So you'd like to see all that information at a glance basically instead of having to click on devices specifically?

I've tried putting my home location in the middle of the ocean and then using ping assist as a general latency catch all for my games and it hasn't worked at all so far.

Not getting you a game at all or getting a game outside your parameters or something else?

I was an idiot and had strict mode on.... thought I switched it off before using it. It is not working as planned, sorry for the delay.

We are aware Ping Optimizer/Speed Test isn't 100% reliable at the moment and it's something the team are working on. Those features can still work, it just may not be every time. Otherwise adjust them manually for the moment.

I've sent you .23 via PM, you can upgrade from Settings > Troubleshooting, once complete I'd recommend doing a factory reset

Hi, any chance we could have the "Today's Usage" automatically change units from MB to GB etc when its greater than maybe 2GB ? or have it as an option for us to select the unit.

Good spot/idea, I'll pass that onto the team, should be an easy one.

My ping optimizer isn't working at all keeps saying unable perform due to external reasons everytime I try to use it. Firmware didn't seem to change anything.

Any fixes/mitigations for this... cannot get into Duma OS on Desktop(browser) or Mobile after about 24 ish hours ? Stays on this screen forever.... backend functionality seems to be functioning correctly such as Wi-Fi and general internet connection.
Have to restart the router to get it to function again.

The team are looking into that, disabling IPv6 in WAN/LAN and disabling SmartBOOST entirely seems to help prevent it

Okay thanks, I’ll try disable SmartBOOST and see how I go as a temporary solution. Have had IPv6 disabled from the day I got the router.

That's great to hear, thanks for the update!

Update: It’s happened again, I have SmartBoost off and IPv6 off too. Had to power cycle to get back into Duma OS.

Feedback: Someone posted in a different thread about a possible WiFi fix using the XR1000 antenna's with adapters and I can confirm after trying the same that the WiFi coverage is MUCH improved, when keeping all other variables the same.
