Call If Duty large spikes over 100ms showing in the ping graph but steady in game. Normal behaviour?

Just wondering if this is normal ? I have fibre and with steady ping this was showing a steady 32 ms in game. My ping plotter tests are very smooth and A+ on buffer bloat test.

@Rbk23That could possibly be a server issue or a steady ping bug though alternativly it could be your network spiking up on latency so I would advise to test your network to make sure that not the cause you can use following software for simplicity https://www.pingplotter.com/

As mentioned in the original post, ping plotter tests are smooth. Largest spike I get in those is less than 10ms.

@Rbk23Actually just do 10 minute one that should be fine to add you can try using steady ping on expert and set your ms that is mostly suitable to stabilize the connection as it forces it

Ok thanks will do it tonight when I get home.

Any particular site I should ping to?

It's likely a spike to the server rather than a spike on your entire connection, seems to only happen for a second. Try forcing a different server and see if you get the same thing.

Says I am getting huge packet loss at the router?

Edit: My R2 exhibits the same. If I use the connection directly from my fibre box it is fine

@Rbk23Yup that definitely an issue first hop should be clean as the others are you using dhcp or ppoe? Since as you said your using your ISP box it shows no affect then there must be something on the settings or the way you set it up that causing latency issues on the first hop.

@Rbk23All you need to care about are the first 3 hops and the last hop basically

What do you suggest I try changing? I did some other packet test and it is saying no lost packets

This article seems to be saying it can be normal? I think?

@Rbk23Try dmz option I would do the following:

Copy the WAN IP from the R3 in Settings > WAN then access the ISP modem/router and enter it in the DMZ function

I have FTTH I don’t have a modem I have an ONT

@Rbk23I'll be honest I am not an expert on ONT so this articles summarizes something I found a bit particular is that you need a special fiber router whatever that means therefore your probably going to have to use your system like this ONT>ISP ROUTER>R3 If that works you can just disable the wireless signal for the ISP router and have the R3 handle everything in a way it just using the other routers connection as the throughput.

How an ONT fits into your home network

An ONT device is necessary for your home network only if you have fiber installed. This is because, with fiber-optic Internet, you cannot use any modem or router. You must have an ONT or OLT and a fiber router.

There is no additional “fibre router”  Fibre line comes into the house and goes into the ONT, which goes to my Duma.

From the ONT straight to my PC there is no packet loss so what ever this is is happening solely at the router. I tried my ASUS RT-AX86U and it says there is packet loss also. Maybe Fraser can shed some more light on this.
