Nuyorrican
I work from home so I use our corporate VoIP alot. When I setup the router, I made Voip and then Work from Home the top priorities. When I look at VoIP network activity for the span of lets say a week, it states that there is now data. Under work from home it does register data. I was curious if perhaps there might be a problem with VoIP not being prioritized or being recognized by the R3. We use RingCentral and some of the people would mention that my calls sounded distant. I went into settings and added an Internet rule called "RingCentral" and added the ports UDP 5060-5090 for all the devices. So far this looks like it solved the issue. I also enabled Wi-Fi calling on all the cell phones and even though that is working I was expecting that to also be part of the VOIP network statistics. Just an FYI I am running on firmware version 4.0.23 and I reset my configuration after the firmware upgrade. Should the VoIP prioritization recognize the RingCentral app or Wi-Fi calling? Thank you and keep up the good work. Everything else seems to be working great.
DARKNESS
It not under the DPI category so it not going to be recognized as such if you want it to be supported quicker make a capture using wireshark for it to be added to the list.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 5 Administrators Share Posted January 5 I don't think we have specifically tested RingCentral so I will make a request for the team to get it classified, thanks for the report! Nuyorrican

Just curious then. When I enable Wi-Fi calling under what classification would I see that traffic under Network Activity?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 5 Administrators Share Posted January 5 Technically that should be VoIP, do you see it showing up for that?

No. I went to Network activity, set it for 1 week and filtered VoIP and it show no activity. When I filter it for my phone and 1 week I only have Uncategorized, VPN, Video & Streaming, Web (General), Work From Home, File Sharing, Chat & Messaging, Cloud Gaming, Gaming. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 5 Administrators Share Posted January 5 Okay thank you, I will pass that onto the team to have a look at. What is the phone/phone OS version?
DARKNESS
@NuyorricanI mean that would depend on what your using to call someone/application if your using anything not under the DPI catalog it will appear as uncategorized you can check the catalog of what's supported by going to Smart Boost and select add and there you can view all the supported applications. DARKNESS
@Netduma FraserI believe he/she is using WiFi calling with Ring central therefore it won't be recognized as it not on the list regardless of OS Netduma Fraser

Thank you for the tip. I was not aware of that setting. One interesting thing to note. If you look at the groups you can find VoIP but if you bring up the dropdown box, VoIP is not listed. So there is no way to see what is classified under VoIP.
DARKNESS
@NuyorricanI am not the one who designed the OS but I guess it a flaw design I noticed it long ago though I believe it do to it being able to be designated or classified as different things for certain individuals such as at job etc so you can see most of them at work from home or chat and messaging for VOIP as there basically mostly classified VOIP. I think it's just general VoIP and there are no specific applications included
