Ping Optimizer and Geo-filter

Recommended Posts

No matter what I set my congestion control to, when I have it optimize it, the download only tests at 100%. I set up to 70% and It doesn't go up or down, just 100% every single time. Even if it's worse than what I have and it says it couldn't do any better, it still sets my download at 100% in the end. For upload I set it to 70%. It went to 100% and was way worse. then it dropped to 75% and even though it was worse than my 70%, it showed green as an improvement over 100% though the ping number stayed the same. then it gradually went higher and higher, each time showing green as if it was comparing it to 100%, not my 70%. It went all the way up to 99% which still showed improvement over 100% so it was green. Each time the percentage went up, the ping went up but still showed green as it got better than 100% but the ping number never changed from the initial 70%. It also tested 100% at the end for 3 consecutive iterations. In the end, it set my download to 100% but showed the ping of when it was 70% and the upload was set to 99% but showed the ping of when it was 70%.

The Geo-filter doesn't seem to be acting normal. I'm looking for a game and even with strict on, it was looking as if I had no restrictions, quickly raising the ping percentage from 30ms to 150ms to 180ms until if connects me to a game on the other side of the country. I have fast search off, 0 for ping assist, steady ping disabled. I have my polygon points clearly setting my boundries and even though I see white dots pop up in my set area, it still was connecting me across the country.

I have the same ping optimize issue except my upload is stuck on 100%. not my download.

We are aware Ping Optimizer/Speed Test isn't 100% reliable at the moment and it's something the team will work on when they're back from the holidays. Those features can still work, it just may not be every time.

For you getting 100% speeds that's likely because you'll have Speed Test Bypass enabled (it is by default), turning this off would then allow you to see Congestion Control at work.

  • Disable GeoLatency
  • Disable PingAssist (set it to 0,0)
  • Enable Strict Mode
  • Disable Fast Search

Then restart game or wait 10 minutes (in the lobby in the game). If that doesn't work, reboot PC/Console and it should work then.
