IAmNoOne1989
My R3 is wired from my modem and I am connected to the R3 from an extender in my office which is wired to my PC. When I first got the R3, for the first few days my download speeds were about 850-900MBps on my phone and PC. Now on my PC, Im roughly getting about 70MBps the last few days and I am unsure on what is going wrong.
IAmNoOne1989
Also forgot to mention, Ping Optimizer has completely quit working. Every time I try to run it now, I get the message "DumaOS is unable to complete the Ping Optimizer process due to external circumstances."
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 2 Administrators Share Posted January 2 Could be an ethernet cable, if you swap it out for another do the speeds increase? We are aware Ping Optimizer/Speed Test isn't 100% reliable at the moment and it's something the team will work on when they're back from the holidays. Those features can still work, it just may not be every time.

Added a DMZ to the R3 after turning it off and tried again. Download speed is now about 250MBps which is decent but much less than what it was the first few days. I have turned off ipv6 on LAN and WAN in the R3 settings as well as smart boost

Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 2 Administrators Share Posted January 2 If you connect a device directly to the R3 instead of the extender do you get the higher speeds?
IAmNoOne1989
3 minutes ago, Netduma Fraser said: If you connect a device directly to the R3 instead of the extender do you get the higher speeds? I would have to purchase a very long ethernet to test the speeds on my PC if I'm going to test the speeds while directly plugged into the R3. Just strange how the first few days I was getting roughly 800-900MBps on my PC, now its about 1/4 of that. The speed test on DumaOS is showing these speeds (800-900), but any other speed test such as speedtest.net is showing 230-250MBps
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 3 Administrators Share Posted January 3 Can you change the ethernet cable connecting the PC to the extender then and see whether the speeds change?

Just hard wired my PC straight to the R3 with a brand new ethernet cable. Congestion control is set at 70/70 with my download speed as 1GB which is what my ISP provides. These are my download speeds. Roughly 200MB faster than on an extender

Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 4 Administrators Share Posted January 4 Okay that's better and is speed test bypass still enabled? If you set Congestion Control to 100% does it increase?

Somehow my speeds are over 100MBps slower
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 4 Administrators Share Posted January 4 Disable all the options in Settings > Troubleshooting > Advanced, then reboot, do you get faster speeds then?

Still roughly the same as the previous screenshot. No major changes minus a few MB increase
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 4 Administrators Share Posted January 4 I know you said you couldn't bypass the extender as you'd need a long cable but could you take the R3 to the modem and take a laptop there that can be connected via ethernet and see if it's better then? Everything is hard wired now. The last 3 screenshots are me being hard wired to the R3 and the R3 wired to the modem
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 4 Administrators Share Posted January 4 As a test could you put your PC in the DMZ and do a speed test and see if you get any higher? Once done take it out of the DMZ

Honestly crazy because now the download speeds on my phone on WiFi are about 70-90MBps when it used to be about 700-800MBps lol.. I honestly don't understand any of this and it makes no sense why these are the speeds I'm getting
IAmNoOne1989
Turned off SmartBOOST and retried the speed test again with the PC in DMZ mode. 601MBps which is better than the previous screenshot, but still far off from the GB I'm getting from my ISP
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 5 Administrators Share Posted January 5 What firmware version are you on at the moment? I know there was an update that improved speeds, you may be past it already though

Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 8 Administrators Share Posted January 8 I've sent you .23 via PM, you can upgrade from Settings > Troubleshooting, once complete I'd recommend doing a factory reset

Speed test are roughly the same as the last screenshot sent. The speed test that's built into DumaOS is showing the correct speeds during the test, but speedtest.net is pretty consistent with 550-600MBps
Zippy
Hey @IAmNoOne1989 I have a question.. When or if you disabled IPV6 on LAN and WAN did you do that during the initial setup or was that done after the initial setup in the UI? Thanks! Zippy.
