Horrible WiFi signal

Try this:

  • Split the bands, give 2.4/5GHz different names and apply - you'll want to connect to 5GHz specifically for speeds
  • Use a WiFi analyzer to find the least congested channel and change to that
  • Experiment with the widths to see what gives better results
  • Ensure it's in an elevated position - not on a metal surface
  • Ensure there aren't any electrical / wireless devices e.g headphones etc within close proximity ~3 feet if possible
  • Set the antennae to this position _ | | _

See if it has improved after that

So literally none of those suggestions did anything whatsoever for the WiFi?

Nope nothing helped splitting the bands and changing channels actually made it worse tried rebooting 3 times nothing I have it located in the same spot I had my xr500 some how can walk 10 feet before signal goes from fair to bad…. Tried most of these and I'm still struggling with WiFi signal.

The R3 is in the same place as my XR1000v2 was, I've set up my Netgear extender in the same location but the signal is terrible.

I'm getting poor wifi signal to the TV, which is in the room 10 steps away, which is strange.

That doesn't make any sense really, where is the R3 located in your home? Is the XR500 and modem right by it also?

This where I setup my R3 had the xr500 in this same spot and works flawlessly but the R3 in the other hand I leave this little room and the signal instantly to poor while the xr500 I can go outside and still get decent signal… nothing but a Xbox is in this room and it’s locked almost exactly in the middle of the house just on the upstairs level

What phone or mobile device do you have?

Are you able to install WiFi Sweetspots. It’s free and is a nice easy way of showing your connection in a basic way. With it running you can walk around and see what is going on.

if you can take a screen shot when you are around 6ft from the router then walk about and see what happens.

iPhone 15 pro and I already put the R3 back in the box and went back to the XR500 since it work perfect…I’ll wait till they figure out what the issue is with the R3
