You may have a faulty ethernet cable connecting the R3 to the Hub or the PC to the R3, if you swap them out does it keep the speed?

just a heads up i  use the cable that come with the r3 then change it to one of my own so maybe the one in the r3 box was faulty

Keep us posted, it's unlikely yes but always possible. If you've swapped out both cables then you could add one of them back in to check which one is faulty.

Did this get solved? I have just recieved my R3 today and have fibre BT and a smart hub but I saw on BT website if you have fibre you don't need to use the smart hub at all when connecting your own router you can plug the cable straight from the ONT into the WAN port on the R3, so I will try this later when I set it up and update with my results.

I assume this will then fully rely on the R3 for security and stuff then? Or will it be the same as if it was dmz or bridge mode anyways? @Netduma Fraser

It should work fine and yes it would mean the router is responsible for everything

It's likely that you may need to use PPPoE - you'll need to get those details from BT if applicable, then you can enter them in and get internet
