Salve ,

I have a question to ask you:
To make the most of the router's potential, is it better to configure the connection with PPOe or just put it in the Modem's DMZ?

thanks so much for all the replies.

You may be limited on speed using PPPoE though we are looking at improving this so if you have very fast speeds I would suggest using the DMZ option for the moment

thanks for reply ....but i have a 100 mb , so in my particular case .....i can configure router r3 in dmz ever ?

Ah okay you could use PPPoE on the R3 then and receive your full speeds

ah ok , but how can set the PPPoe on the r3?

i must configure only in the router or in router/modem?

Set your ISP router/modem into modem/bridge mode, then you can enter PPPoE in the R3 in Settings > WAN, then reboot and you should have a connection

but are there advantages in putting pppoe or leaving the router in dmz is the same thing?

thanks.

Hi !
In some cases it is possible to remove the ISP router/modem and replace it with the R3 using PPPoE.
If you can't do it, without going into details, the only difference between PPPoE (Bridge mode) and DHCP DMZ is that the R3 will either be live on your line, or on the subnet of your router/ISP mode.
It all depends on whether this is a real bridge mode proposed...

I mean, there is an additional hop, albeit it probably on 1ms ping worth by having the other router. As long as no devices are connected to that other router then there won't be much difference.
