BSilverthorn
Came home and had to do a hard reset of the router for some reason. Now when attempting to turn off the DHCP portion of the router I recieve the following error: I know this should be a simple straight forward thing and I understand subnetting, My verizon modem that the XR1000 is plugged into has not been update or changed in reference to IP, subnet etc. Usually I just rest have to reset the router once every 3 to 5 months, login and turn off the DHCP server. I never recieved this. I dont want to re-ip my enter house to a differnt network atm don't have time. So not sure what is amiss here. I know its a Mr Obvious, my router has been 192.168.1.1 on the internal side. With DHCP coming from the piehole server. Why? And why isnt the IP address conflicting now with the check to use DHCP server enabled, I dont want a differnt IP. I just want the darn DHCP server off. Also reflashed the firmware just for kicks late last night to see what gives.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 5, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 5, 2023 What is the IP of the modem/router the XR is connected to?
BSilverthorn
192.168.0.1 is it, the IP of XR100 WAN port is 192.168.0.150. Been this way for a year or two at least, not that matters. If I can access the router at 192.168.1.1, why can't I just stop the DHCP service from running?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 5, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 5, 2023 That is strange, you should be able to just disable it, you said PiHole is handling DHCP, presumably upstream? What IP is that showing?
BSilverthorn
It is at 192.168.1.223 for DNS and DHCP
BSilverthorn
Piehole setting, I turned DHCP off since I can not disable the router for some reason.
BSilverthorn
I also double checked to see if there was some weird reason that something came online as 1.1. When the router is off pings fail to 192.168.1.1. Wireshark just shows DHCP requests not getting answered.
BSilverthorn
I resolved this by disconnecting everything from the router, connecting via wifi, then it let me turn dhcp off. Saved settings and rebooted. I seem to be working but sure is the hard way to disable DHCP
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 7, 2023 Administrators Share Posted December 7, 2023 Glad to hear you got it resolved, that's definitely a strange one, I've never seen that before, it must have been some sort of clash somewhere
