I have download configuration files from here https://nordvpn.com/ovpn and putting the config settings In VPN Hybrid.

Provider - N/A
Country - N/A
City - N/A
Protocol - N/A
Status - Connected

And my ip is still the same.

No I mean you have to make a rule to add your device to the VPN - it's the right side of the VPN page, how have you done that? It doesn't apply the VPN to the router as a whole, you need to make a rule for a device to apply it to that device.

You won't see a different IP address because you're only applying the VPN to YouTube so the rest of your device/anything else will be using your normal connection

I have added connection to this VPN server Andorra.
I can see advertisements when i play youtube.

if I do it on an ASUS router, then there are no advertisements.

so NordVPN doesn't work 100% on XR500

I have tested it on PC as well

It's likely the YouTube service needs to be updated then so instead add the device entirely to the VPN and see if it works that way. 

You're using a custom config so it doesn't know what that information is as other than the protocol that information is not provided in the config.

It's safe to say I'm way behind on firmware then?  I check for updates periodically but there never are any.  I'll rummage the forums and see what steps I need to take.  Upgrading firmwares is like Christmas for me.  Everyone in the house hates it while I figure it out though. lol

The file itself looks fine, there are a couple of lines that could be removed if you were still experiencing an issue but sounds like you got it sorted.

Not way behind really, you're just on the previous update, there hasn't been an update since the beta link I provided and NG has not made it a public release/available to download on the router so you weren't to know! Any issues let us know but as long as you read the top post of the topic I linked thoroughly you shouldn't have any issues, if you do have an issue there is a step detailed there to resolve it, of course anything else do ask.

Okay, status update… I managed to get upgraded to the latest beta firmware. Love the new layout. Wish I could enable/disable the Hybrid VPN from my mobile, but that’s a small thing.
 

Using NordVPN, if I enable the Hybrid VPN it will connect, and we can watch IPTV and streaming services I otherwise wouldn’t be able to without a VPN, but it makes gaming a nightmare. Using the right side to add devices, the mode is grayed out (unable to change) but suggests the devices I am adding will not go through the VPN… but when the VPN is enabled, even when the device is added to the exclusion list, it’s obviously being routed through the VPN. High ping, packet loss, etc… is there something simple I’m likely missing with the Hybrid VPN settings or maybe in another setting somewhere to allow for mode selections?

If you add your gaming device to the VPN and it's greyed out it means it is going through the VPN - if you don't want it to go through the VPN don't add it - the VPN does not apply to all devices by default
