Abysmally slow speeds on PS5 and also kind of everywhere.

I’m on WiFi with my PS5 using the Netduma R2 and Motorola MB8611 modem, and the speeds are way lower than what I was getting before using a standard ASUS router with the cox panoramic modem.

Im getting speeds of like 40-60 when before I’d be getting at least 200-400 in the exact same room which is very far from the router.

in general I’ve just been noticing WiFi speeds being exceptionally slower than they were before. Am I doing something wrong here?

The range for the R2 is limited to be honest and max speeds on Wi-Fi are about 200ish I’d recommend putting your asus router in AP mode and turning off the Wi-Fi on the R2 so you can have better wireless experience.

An exemption would be if your having routers far apart then you could leave the wifi on the R2 on and it basically acts as an access points etc

i would preferably play lan but if not an option that my best recommendation

Hi @Atom Glory

I have max wifi speeds of +-300/300 Mbps with the R2, the best is to separate the 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz bands, the latter allowing you to have the best speed but not necessarily the best stability... (all in knowing that the multiplayer game does not need a lot of bandwidth!)

Could you provide a screenshot of your QoS page please?

All of the QoS features are actually disabled. Not my own choice. I’m not allowed to make any changes to any of the prioritization features unfortunately.

I'm not sure I follow, do you have access to the interface?

Changes to any of the settings or just the QoS page? Otherwise it will be hard for me to advise without you being able to change anything.

Yeah I understand. Splitting the 2.4 and 5ghz bands like another user suggested has helped a bit, and that’s about the only changes I can make without causing household problems.

This is what I would suggest generally for WiFi, most of which you won't need to change anything. For settings that do require change, perhaps best to change it late at night/when no one is using the internet.

  1. Use a WiFi analyzer to find the least congested channel and change to that
  2. Experiment with the widths to see what gives better results
  3. Ensure it's in an elevated position - not on a metal surface
  4. Ensure there aren't any electrical / wireless devices e.g headphones etc within close proximity ~3 feet if possible
  5. Set the antennae to this position _ | | _
