Geo Filter not working on XR1000

Recommended Posts

Having issues with the geo filter on my XR1000. After updating to the new firmware it seems the geo filter is not filtering or adhering to and ping assist rules at all. I'll try to connect me to servers in the UK even though I am LA based and have my polygon around california with ping assist set to 15. Something with the new firmware might be causing it to not work.

Things I have tried so far:

- Rebooting (2x)

- Factory reset (1x)

- Remove devices from filter, resync cloud, readd device as a manual, wait about 5 minutes, then boot up the game, still no luck (3x)

- Starting the game with the filter on (2x)

- Starting the game with the filter off then turning it on right before I search for a game (2x)

This has been frustrating as I am still waiting on the new Duma OS firmware that will hopefully fix this on my XR1000, in the meantime I am thinking of using the R2 as the main router connected to my modem since it gets the most recent updates and hopefully the logic with traffic prioritization and geo filtering works better, then using the XR1000 as an access point seeing as it's more powerful and I'd still get good wifi. Can that be a good workaround since nothing seems to be working for me? Also would like to add that in the Duma OS app, every time I leave the Geo filter tab, it removes the polygon and I have to redraw it. Which seems pointless as the geo filter isn't in working condition right now anyway. Please let me know anything else I can try or any thoughts.

Could you provide a screenshot of what you're seeing exactly when you're getting the server in the UK? Then I can best understand what may be happening. Using the R2 with the 1000 in AP mode is definitely a power combo and would allow you to experience the latest in DumaOS with powerful hardware for WiFi.

Now that you say that I did a little bit of a test with the XR1000 in ap mode and it seems when you disable smart qos on the R2 it doesn't disable it still keeps the cc settings applied and the only counter course is to change the cc settings though that just in ap mode if the R2 is by itself it works without having to manually change the cc settings when you disable smart qos

For Future AP mode users using the XR1000 disable wifi on the R2 unless your using it as an access point to improve range in house hold good to you but you will need a long cable/wall outlet extension😂 My reasoning is simple the two networks don't actually share speeds it just caps them so you might as well use the fastest router that capable of the throughput

Just to clarify, with the 1000 in AP mode disabled SmartQoS on the R2 doesn't work, you get reduced speeds through devices connected to the R2 and through the AP but without the XR connected it disables as expected all devices get full speeds?

@Netduma Fraser No what I am saying is when I manually disable smart qos the cc settings should be disabled which they do when the R2 is a standalone device but when connected XR1000 AP mode they just don't disable it still passes the cc settings that were originally applied on the R2

So I made my XR1000 an access point and am now running my network off of my R2. Geo filtering now works and all the traffic stuff seems to be working okay. There are some weird spots where it sometimes does not detect my PS5 traffic but it seems to have corrected itself? Need to do more testing. Not sure if I should put this in the R2 support section but here I go: So I've assigned my XR1000 (access point) a static IP on my R2, but I am noticing that even though my wifi doesn't drop out, on device manager the devices will drop in and out. I'llattach screenshots so you can see, these screenshots were taken less than one minute apart. Many of the other devices do the same thing where they drop in and out on device manager but they don't actually lose connection when that occurs. I noticed that my phone will drop the wifi connection after a certain amount of time as well. So I am just bringing this to attention and would also like to request to be able to label another router or access point on the device map as the XR1000 is showing up as a computer as you can see from the screenshot. Doubt that has anything to do with it but it's worth a shot. Maybe I should factory reset the XR1000 and put it in AP mode again? Open to suggestions.

It seems like the R2 isn't seeing the Xr1000 as an access point. But it still doesn't explain the constant dropping in and out on device manager.

The Device Manager is quite sensitive, if there isn't any active traffic at the time it will switch to offline even if the device is connected to the router as technically it is offline not passing traffic if you see what I mean. It won't affect the wider functionality of the router, it's just a visual thing essentially.
