ecarl97
Hello fellow Netduma'ers, I live in Denver, I have had my Netduma for about a week. I cannot find a connection any better than 40ms. I always connect to the Seattle Dedicated server. In previous research, it seems there is no hope for not connecting to this dedicated server, which provides very inconsistent latencies..40 - 100ms. Is this a function of where I live? Are my settings too strict? Geo-filter set to 1700km and ping assist set to 50. I turned off IPv6 and all associated IPv6 elements, I have played with geo-filter, Deny/Allow (which I find is impossible with the dedicated server). I love the idea of Netduma, but I assume I always have been connecting to this Seattle server and if there is no way to stop this, then my gaming experience will not change. Would love to know what others who live in Colorado have done. What settings you may have implemented and what servers you have found to provide the best gaming experience. Thank you!! Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 28, 2015 Administrators Share Posted July 28, 2015 Hey Carl, welcome to the forum! Firstly, we need to know what your base ping is as 40ms may be the best you can get for your connection. If you do the internet diagnosis on the R1 it will disconnect everything from the internet and can indicate issues with your line. Once done click more details and you can see the average ping you're getting. To prevent getting that dedi, I'd have strict mode on and turn ping assist to 0 and maybe change your location/radius size if necessary and see if you can get a game. You could also prioritise your console as well so it always has the upload it needs
ecarl97
Hey Fraser, So...I have 150Mb DL line and 15Mb UL...my ping stats are as follows round-trip min/avg/max = 25.988/34.583/125.558 ms Not so bad if I could get between 25 and 40ms. When I first started using Netduma I was noticing a subtle difference. I wasn't amazing but was getting way more kill rewards. My code is 1.03.3 - newest code. I have given all BW in the house to the xbox 1. Wife is pissed I'll look at turning ping assist to 0 and see if that helps. Thanks...I'll keep posting but today my ratio is like .40. I am about a 1.20 - 1.30 player. I know how to hack a regular router to get good performance on COD, so I am hoping this performs better than than. ecarl97
Fraser, I just ran some tests: I am getting 112Mb DL and 20Mb UL on my Asus Router while getting only 50Mb DL and 9Mb UL on Netduma. Can Netduma handle speeds over 50Mb???
PharmDawgg
Do these steps and you should get the fastest speeds the R 1 will allow. http://wiki.netduma.com/doku.php?id=fine_tune_netduma

I would expect your average of 35ms to be what you will get at least most of the time. Also what did it say for ping, jitter, spikes and packet loss? As this is a test that can indicate problems with your line and 125ms max isn't too great. So you could do more of these tests at different times over a 48 hour period and use the proof to take to your ISP. Thats the last version of the firmware, the newest can be found here, just follow the instructions to upgrade http://wiki.netduma.com/doku.php?id=manual_update As long as share excess is ticked on device prioritisation then your wife should be happy as her devices will get upload too Also following Bucks link will get your speeds up.
