rlb3
Hi, ok, so answers to these questions might be very obvious but I would like to confirm this kind of setup will work regarding vpn. So I have an cable isp so networking setup and vpn will work correctly when I just connect my cable modem/router via ethernet to netduma router and that one also via ethernet to my console/xbox? And then setup vpn. And does cable router have to be in bridged mode cause I think this is kind of router which is just routing only? Thanks
Netduma Staff Netduma Crossy Posted July 27, 2015 Netduma Staff Share Posted July 27, 2015 Hi rlb3, welcome to the forum You can just plug the Netduma into your current router and then set up the VPN on the Netduma. You can put your ISP router in bridgemode or you could put the Netduma in its DMZ

rlb3
I think I can continue to here. So I have setup vpn to my xbox one and it works correctly except that cant connect to any game when using vpn. I have IPVanish. Have tried different servers, in some of them I get nat type open and in some it is moderate but any of them doesnt work. What settings should I change? rlb3
Do you mean you can't get in a game? If you disable your GeoFilter can you get in one? Yes. I mainly tried fifa 15 and in there it finds an opponent but cant connect. Geofilter is disabled. I now made multiplayer connection test on xbox and I get ¨cant get teredo ip¨ and also ¨MTU issue´¨ messages. I checked connection statictics and according to that I have MTU of 1380 when using vpn. Normally without vpn it is 1480. And xbox demands mtu of 1384 at least. Dont know what to do next.

Can you paste the config of your VPN here please or put it on pastebin.com and post a link I think it would be something in there overriding the MTU. What if my VPN provider allowed me to forward one port? Would I be able to get an open NAT then somehow?

I think so - yes. From what I've read on their site, a VPN provider called AirVPN allows that but I've never tested it.
PharmDawgg
I sent a request for help to their support people as well. And this is what I got in return. 'We have assigned a Private ip on your account for 7 days for the testing purpose. You need to relogin to Astrill app and then select "USA - Dallas 1 (Private)" from the server list. Contact us back if you need further assistance.' I will try this tonight when I get home.

Here is config: client dev tun proto udp remote man-c01.ipvanish.com 443 resolv-retry infinite nobind persist-key persist-tun persist-remote-ip ca ca.ipvanish.com.crt tls-remote man-c01.ipvanish.com auth-user-pass comp-lzo verb 3 auth SHA256 cipher AES-256-CBC keysize 256 tls-cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA:DHE-DSS-AES256-SHA:AES256-SHA I cant copy that vpn log however. In my network there seems to be also some ¨nameless device¨. I dont know what this is.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted August 12, 2015 Administrators Share Posted August 12, 2015 Theres nothing in that config that overwrites the MTU. Why are you using the VPN for console exactly as would always recommend playing without one if its necessary, are you getting DDoSed frequently? Can you go through this guide http://wiki.netduma.com/doku.php?id=fine_tune_netdumaso you're optimally set up and then attempt the VPN.
