why does trace always go to the states

It could be a mis-located IP that is showing in the US when actually it is a lot closer to you. I wouldn't worry about it though, just as long as your ping is low it'll be fine :)

yeah my ping is low just thought it was a bit odd thats all cheers for that crossy hope your well mate any news on the next ffa or whats happening

If your ping is high based on the route shown by the OP, then I'd highly recommend you checking up with your ISP on how their DNS servers do their routing and if possible, ask them to change their routes that they are currently taking to a new route. You'll probably need to tell them the Game Server's IP address though. So they can check how the routing goes themselves. At the same time, this will only probably work if you have a 'Gaming' internet plan that promises low latency to Gaming Servers I believe. But it is worth a try as in the end, you and many other players on the ISP will benefit with the more efficient routing procedures.

I wouldn't pay much attention to the trace, its more of a fun visual then anything useful really. As long as your ping is low then its all good. Ping is king :)
