Leo
I have factory reset my XR500. I've given my Nintendo Switch a static IP and I have set that IP as the DMZ but I still get NAT Type D. I am on the latest firmware: V2.3.2.134 Any ideas on how to resolve this, please?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 20, 2022 Administrators Share Posted December 20, 2022 What is the modem/router the XR is connected to and how have you set that up? You'll likely need to put the XR WAN IP from the System Information page into the modem DMZ to get an Open NAT.
Leo
Hi Fraser, This is the internet connection I have at home: https://www.nbnco.com.au/learn/network-technology/fibre-to-the-premises-explained-fttp There is no modem that has a DMZ that I am able to put my XR500 into. Any other ideas?
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 20, 2022 Administrators Share Posted December 20, 2022 What does the XR connect to, the wall, an ONT or another device?
Leo
The XR plugs into a data point in the living room which runs to a data point in the garage where the NBN Connection Box is plugged in. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 20, 2022 Administrators Share Posted December 20, 2022 Okay thank you, in that case can you follow the section at the bottom of this guide to see if you have CG-NAT please? https://support.netduma.com/en/support/solutions/articles/16000076587-dumaos-optimal-settings-guide-open-nat
Leo
I have already tried that and there was only one line in the response. I will try again when I get home from work though just to make sure. Netduma Fraser
Leo
Yep, there's two lines in the response that have readings and then multiple request timed outs after that. I'm guessing I need to contact my ISP? What do I ask them to do?
Leo
I just found this on my ISP's website. https://www.aussiebroadband.com.au/help-centre/internet/tech-support/cg-nat/ The resolution seems to be to either purchase a static IP or talk to them about opting out of CGNAT. Leo
I called my ISP and opted out of CGNAT. Restarted my router and restarted my Switch and I'm getting NAT type A now. Thanks for your help.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 22, 2022 Administrators Share Posted December 22, 2022 Great to hear that, I'm surprised you were able to opt out, they usually force you down the static IP route for an additional price. You're very welcome!
