LGalway
Hi, there. I have been having VPN issues for quite a while now, had hoped the recent update would rectify the issue, but unfortunately not. Basically my issue is very inconsistent connectivity, sometimes I will connect perfectly fine with my vpn and desired device, but more often than not once I switch country I will get ''failed'' when connecting to a county a new country I had connected to fine a few hours earlier. I often have to restart my router to rectify this which sometimes works. I have tried different providers and tested each vpn with their own app/browser addon and there is never an issue their end. This is with ovpn, today I also tried wireguard, which I have no issue getting ''connected'' but nothing will load. I'm hoping there is something I'm doing wrong that can be fixed easily. Any suggestions would be appreciated. For reference I did installed the new update today 3.2, as well as a factory reset. Thanks.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 11, 2022 Administrators Share Posted July 11, 2022 When you want to change the server, delete the device from the right side of the page, then enter the new details and see if it connects, if so then you can re-add the device. That may be a faster way to get it working.
LGalway
I've tried that. Doesn't seem to rectify the issues. Thanks for the reply.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 11, 2022 Administrators Share Posted July 11, 2022 Thanks for trying, someone has brought this up recently so we are looking into it, looks like for the moment you will need to reboot - you said that it sometimes work so make sure you delete the device first, then reboot and it should work every time. Hi, mate. I trialled what you suggested today, and I'm still having a lot of issues. Even when hybrid VPN is showing as ''connected'' either with ovpn or wireguard, my ip isn't changing to the designated country, as well as this I'm still having issues connecting even after removing device and restarted router. If you could provide some suggestion's id really appreciate it. Thanks.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 12, 2022 Administrators Share Posted July 12, 2022 Is that with the device added it's not changing and if so how have you added it? How are you testing the IP? Your IP can cache so clearing cache or even restarting the device should then show you the correct device. Unfortunately there aren't many settings at all for the VPN that could help with that, does disabling the VPN, deleting the device, then changing server then re-enabling work more consistently? Correct, with the device added. The device being my PC. I have added it by ''add device'' under VPN Traffic, ''Mode'' is set to ''do not vpn these services''. I don't have an issue seeing devices, they are just not being covered by the vpn, even when the vpn is saying connected. Have tried multiple devices as well as checking the vpn provider via the providers app/browser. The only time i'm having issues is when trying to run the ovpn file or wireguard through hybrid vpn. I should mention my pc is connected to an access point which is connected to my netduma. Could this be causing an issue? Thanks.

From what I can gather the vpn works if I set it up when corrected to netduma through wifi, but if i access duma os through my access point, the vpn doesn't cast the vpn to any of the devices specified even with the hybrid vpn saying connected. Seems to be an issue with the access point. I'm using a TP Link access point for reference.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted July 12, 2022 Administrators Share Posted July 12, 2022 Ahh I see, very interesting, in theory it shouldn't make a difference but there is obviously some sort of interference there, is it more stable generally while connected direct to the WiFi? LGalway
Seems to be more stable yes. Is there anything I should do with the access point as far as set up? DCHP etc.
LGalway
I rectified the issue by connecting by PC via ethernet switch and the vpn seems to work fine now. For whatever reason connecting via access point was the issue. So this will have to be the workaround. Just thought I'd mention incase anyone else runs into a similar issue. Hi, mate. Quick question, I have the vpn working a lot better now, but i've noticed my vpn speed is sooo much slower over the router in comparison to using my vpn app etc. I know the speed can be different, but the difference in speed is very big. Any ideas? Thanks

Any ideas? Thanks That is normal, it's due to being OpenVPN and also hardware constraints, that's why HybridVPN is useful so you can just apply the VPN to specific applications/services/ports so the rest of your device can go through your normal connection and have full speeds. You could use Wireguard as the VPN protocol if your provider supports it and that would get you up to about 100Mbps through the VPN.

I do have wireguard, but nothing loads for me when connected to it. Hybrid VPN says it's connected, but no web pages will load once it's connected. Any idea on a fix? Sorry if I'm being dumb, but when you say ''copy and past but remove the keys'', what do you mean? I've tried quite a few different regions with wireguard but it's the same issue. LGalway
Hey, there. Quick question, wireguard is still working fine, but I did notice my DNS is not switching to the DNS displayed in the config file? Appears to be still connected to my isp dns. Any idea how to rectify this or something I should be changing in the config? Thanks in advanced, appreciate your help.

Noticed the DNS is correct if the vpn is being cast to a wireless device, but if it's cast to a device connected via ethernet it doesn't change. Anything I can do about that or is that just the way wireguard works?
Netduma Liam
You could click the three-line menu in the top left of Hybrid VPN and set the DNS address here, that may help.
