Hey, welcome to the forum!

Can you provide a screenshot of the Geo-Filter page/how it is setup please? We can correctly classify the server if you provide the ID, it is more aesthetic and won't impact your ability to filter.

R2 3.0.205. It's impossible to see where the peer is, servers pop up fine but peer never shows.

here is the id for the servr showing as peer

75058954a214c3c8

I wouldn't expect you to see a peer icon as well as the icon representing the server. Realistically the R2 only has visibility of the server you're connecting to, you don't see any information on the peer that's connecting to it also.

Hello Liam,

Host 75058954a214c3c8 is located in Rotterdam and its type is Peer and not a Dedicated Server that most of the people would expect. But why is its ping constantly changing?

First time I have performed a ping to that host and the result was 37 ms. (few months ago, or maybe 6 months)

Today the ping to that host is 47 ms.

Yesterday the ping to the same host was 41-42 ms.

What should I do to obtain a constant ping to that host? How should we draw the rectangles on the Geo-Filter map? Should we also cover a dedicated server close to that peer host?

Should we use polygon mode or radius mode or both?

Is there a connection between the number of kilometers / miles from radius mode and the shapes / drawings under polygon mode?

@munteanadrian88the way you Geo-Filter the host will not affect its ping. The ping fluctuations could be due to a number of things such as when you're playing, how congested your area is, server load etc. If your QoS settings and internet usage hasn't changed then there won't be anything on your side to specifically change to reduce that. Try playing during off peak times and see if it changes.

Yeah looks like the ping increases when it's under-load, unfortunately as Fraser mentions there's not an awful lot we can do about that as it's just their infrastructure.

I do change the QoS in the following way: I keep it on None during the day and set it to Always (70%70%) after 18:00 pm and maybe stays more on Always during the weekend...

I can rarely see changes like this in the snapshots above, like from 47 ms to 37,38 ms. I still believe that only some sort of a specific setup of the DumaOS will prove me the 37,38 ms. Perhaps the off peak times are very short or something and hard to find. I will test more.

Might be the error below be related to the ping increase / decrease somehow? Or is it because of "their infrastructure" (bad servers)? Or why is it showing up in the log?

I think I got rid of it by performing RESYNC CLOUD under Device Manager view/plugin.

When you're playing, is the DumaOS classified games rule in Traffic Prioritisation lit up and detecting traffic?

Can you share a screenshot of your QoS config so we can see if there's anything else?

I don't believe these entries are the cause of the ping increase, if it is a problem with the servers being under load during peak times it's very unlikely you'll see anything in the logs to reflect this as there's no error, it's just responding a little slower.

  • Congestion Control (I set the Congestion Control to Never after turning the device off and set it to Always before turning the device on). Is it required to drag the sliders back to 100% before switching the radio box to Never? Or is it mandatory to set them to 70% every time I switch the radio box to Always?

No, I use a custom rule for this. But yes, the custom rule does lit up whenever it detects the traffic on that device.

Can you share a screenshot of your QoS config so we can see if there's anything else?

I did above for each of them in particular. Please have a look at it and let me know whether I do something wrong or not.

No, you don't need to change the sliders if you're switching to Never.

Default should work fine, you can adjust it further if you really want to fine-tune it. Gaming uses 1-2Mbit/s so you don't need to allocate too much to the console.

All in all your configuration is pretty good. It may be worth experimenting with lowering the Congestion Control sliders a little more as you've got such a fast line, you may need a slightly harder throttle to ensure DumaOS has full control.

If you set Congestion Control to Auto-enable, these settings will only kick in when you're playing your Playstation, this prevents you from having to disable and enable everything every time you want to play. You can just leave it like that forever.
