victorbrazent
Hello Netduma Support Team, I recently purchased your Netduma R2 router and managed to put my ISP modem/router to bridge mode. After doing so, I noticed that I am not getting the right speeds. Before bridging my ISP modem/router I get D = 300 U = 300 on speedtest and downloading files gave me a constant 200 mb/s download. After putting it on bridge mode I can only get D = 70 U = 80 and when I download a file it only gets a max of 100 mb download. I have tried all the steps indicated in this article to no avail : http://support.netduma.com/support/solutions/articles/16000076586-dumaos-optimal-settings-guide-maximum-bandwidth-speeds Am I doing something wrong? If I unbridge my ISP modem/router I get the 300 mb speed just fine. I have upgraded my firmware to the latest one which is 3.0.394. Thanks for the help and let me know if you need screenshots of anything. I really love your router as it works for Halo Infinite I just hope I get the right amount of speeds! Netduma Liam
Welcome to the forum! What's the exact make and model of your ISP router/modem? Who is your ISP? Can you please go to Device Manager -> Click the three-line menu -> Switch to table view. Then take a screenshot of the top table. After this, unbridge your modem and take a another screenshot of the Device Manager page, you may want to refresh the page.
victorbrazent
Hello again Liam, Thanks for getting back to me. My ISP is PLDT (Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company) and my ISP router is a GPON ONU Model: AN5506-04-FA. I've attached screenshots as per your request here and can't seem to find any difference. Thanks and let me know what's next.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 8, 2021 Administrators Share Posted December 8, 2021 Are you testing over WiFi or ethernet? If you take the modem out of bridge and then test through the R2 are the speeds better?
victorbrazent
I mainly test via wifi as I'm on a Macbook Pro but my xbox console is hardwired and the issue persists. If I unbridge my modem the R2 wifi and wired connection has no internet.

victorbrazent
I just tested it now and it's the same as on my original post. This is directly connected to my ISP router (unbridged) This is directly connected to the R2. There's some improvement but 100 mb difference in the download and a massive difference on the upload
victorbrazent
How can I DMZ my R2? I would like to try that as it's better than the original issue I have experienced. Also, when I DMZ the R2 I can still use the full capabilities of the Geo-filtering, ping assist, etc, right? Is DMZ safe too? What are the cons if I DMZ my R2 to my ISP router? Thank you! Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 8, 2021 Administrators Share Posted December 8, 2021 Copy the WAN IP from the R2 System Information page, access the ISP router and enter it into the DMZ. Yes everything will still work, no downsides as the R2 firewall will keep you protected. See what the speeds are like then.
victorbrazent
I've DMZed the R2 to my ISP router and the issue still persists. There is a significant reduction of speeds when I'm connected to the R2 than when I'm connected directly to my ISP router. Hardwired to R2 (DMZ) Hardwired to ISP router
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 9, 2021 Administrators Share Posted December 9, 2021 Disable QoS completely in the Congestion Control menu then retest, is it higher then? If it's higher but still not what you're expecting then disable the protection options in WAN settings and try again victorbrazent
victorbrazent
Okay, I think that did it. My speeds are higher and more similar when directly connected to my ISP router. I've disabled the protection options too in WAN settings before I first posted. So my question now is why are my speeds lower when on Bridge Mode? Is it because of some unknown settings with my ISP router? Thanks for the help! Appreciate it!

They both have the same functionality really so there shouldn't be much difference so it's probably just due to the way they have implemented each feature. victorbrazent
Okay, so any suggestions how I can maximize my speeds when using QOS? Usually when I play I only connect my mac for access to the dumaos and my console.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 9, 2021 Administrators Share Posted December 9, 2021 If you're just gaming you don't really need those speeds at all. You can leave the protections disabled so that will boost it a bit, you could try 90% for Congestion Control and see if that eliminates lag enough while keeping high speeds. victorbrazent
victorbrazent
Thanks for this once again. Can I ask why the R2's WAN IP keeps on changing? Is there a timing of the change? It changes from 192.168.1.2 - 4 and I can't figure out when it does that exactly. I have to change the DMZ settings on my ISP router once it does that. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 28, 2022 Administrators Share Posted January 28, 2022 To prevent that happening go on the ISP router and set the current WAN IP/the IP the ISP router gives the R2 as static/reserved then it won't change at all. Either the ISP router gets rebooted, then it will change, the R2 gets rebooted or the ISP router DHCP lease expired, renewed and gave a new IP but it you set a static/reserved one it will keep the same IP after all these scenarios. victorbrazent
Ah gotcha. It's my ISP router's DHCP settings and the max lease time is only 99 hours. I do have the option to disable the router's DHCP settings but if I do that what will be the internal IPs of my devices including the R2? Do you have any idea? Thanks! Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 28, 2022 Administrators Share Posted January 28, 2022 You don't need to do that and actually wouldn't advise it, just setting the IP as static/reserved would do that trick. It will likely be in LAN Settings.
victorbrazent
Yeah, I'm in LAN Settings and there's no option to set it to Static. It's an ISP router thing methinks. I can only disable it or set the lease time to 99 hours which is the maximum. See screenshot here.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted January 28, 2022 Administrators Share Posted January 28, 2022 Okay so what you can do instead is set it as static on the R2 so go to Settings > WAN > Network then click static and enter these details: IP - Whatever the R2 WAN IP is/what the ISP router gives the R2 Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 Gateway - 192.168.1.1 and hit apply, that will then ensure the R2 WAN IP stays the same. victorbrazent

victorbrazent
Hello again, Not sure if I need to make a different thread for this but recently Halo Infinite now "blocks" players from geo-filtering. So if you geo-filter you won't get any matches. Is there any way to solve this? I bought Netduma specifically for Halo Infinite as I get ridiculously high pings when playing multiplayer. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted February 12, 2022 Administrators Share Posted February 12, 2022 It's something we're aware of and discussing internally - there is no way around it currently victorbrazent
