Dc38
Hi all, I have unchecked the "Enable SSID Broadcast" options for both wifi 2.4 and 5GHz bands under Settings>Setup>Wireless Setup, but have left the "Enable Wireless Router Radio" checked under Settings>Advanced Settings>Wireless Setup. I have tried manually entering the SSID, security type, and password on my devices, but the only option is to save the network with "automatically reconnect" enabled. There is no option to immediately connect, nor do the devices automatically connect to the wifi at all. Does disabling the SSID Broadcast actually disable the radios, and is this intentional? Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 1, 2021 Administrators Share Posted December 1, 2021 The radio will still be on, if the device itself isn't giving you the option to connect I'm not sure if that's on our end, if you try the same with your ISP router can you connect? Dc38
The isp router is severely limited in that the only thing i can control is the name and password of the wifi. I have tried connecting to the xr1000 with android, apple, and windows devices, but have not been successful.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted December 1, 2021 Administrators Share Posted December 1, 2021 Double check these instructions for connecting to a hidden network just in case there is anything that has been missed https://kb.netgear.com/30740/How-do-I-connect-to-a-hidden-network?article=30740
Killhippie
Dont hide the network then. It does not increase security because many apps show your SSID anyway, its a myth. A strong password is most important, and over 8 digits including upper and lowercase numbers and symbols.
