XR 700 DHCP broken?

Recommended Posts

Anyone else have issues with dropped wifi and not being able to reconnect unless you make the device with a static IP? Currently on the beta 3.0 firmware. I have tried older firmware, numerous factory resets both with the interface and manual with the pin on the back of the router. I have disabled smart connect, beam forming, mu-mimo, 160mhz, and smart roaming. The biggest isssue is with smart home devices, mainly smart light switches. They will not reconnect after a reboot, or stay connected for that matter. It is almost like they are causing the router to not give out ip"s while they remain unconnected searching for the signal.

NG are looking into the disconnect issues and a potential fix should come to the next beta build.

Are the smart devices primarily connected to 2.4GHz? Try making a guest WiFi network just for the smart devices and see if they're able to connect better then

Yes Smart devices are primarily connected to 2.4GHz. This is a painstaking process with 20 light switches. It takes hours to complete. I'll try it for now.

Other than giving each device a static/reserved IP which I think you should do as well if possible you've tried everything else I would suggest other than the guest WiFi. If that doesn't work then it will need to wait for the fix they're already working on

Still getting this on the XR500. Internet drops on the lease change. Is it the same issue Fraser as I read it was fixed in this firmware I’m using? (2.3.2.120)

cheers.

Yes I believe so. It has fixed it for some users but not all so they're collecting logs from affected users to further look into it. They likely have enough now and so hopefully with the next version it will be sorted once and for all. If you're able to give the XR a static/reserved IP on your the modem/router it is connected to then that should help.

Hi hope this might help.

I have xr700 and a number of smart plugs lights etc. If the loose connection after a restart or power cut. They all fail to connect. Switch the router of and on twice after a 30 sec gap. Make sure you do this twice and then give the plugs 10-20 mins check device manager on XR and they should all be back

Thanks for the tip. Maybe I'll try that one day, but for now I am running a second router(tp link deco x60) to match the switches and plugs. Hopefully the issue gets a fast update to the firmware and I can use one router again.

yes i have many issues also with DHCP on XR700 ( V1.0.1.38 )

Hey, welcome to the forum!

Sorry to hear that. NG are investigating and will provide a fix as soon as they're able to. In the meantime if you have a modem/router give the XR a static IP and on the XR give devices reserved IPs if possible.
