Internet randomly going out

My Netduma R2 has an issue where the internet goes out randomly. The WiFi stays up and all devices stay connected to that. Only the internet goes out. My ISP has a modem that when a device is plugged into the modem it works but not the R2. This happens randomly and is increasing in frequency. I upgraded to the latest firmware and the issue is still happening.

I did do a factory rest. After the upgrade.

Here is the log I saw from the R2 when the incidents happen:

Snickers, try manually entering the DNS servers to your ISP in the settings. It has helped me. Only dropped the internet once on me in 3 weeks after doing that. I was having issues with it dropping my internet connection all the time to especially after the newer firmware update. I actually flashed mine back to the old .123 version for a while. Had some issues again. Factory reset it. Flashed to the .179 firmware. Flashed it again. Worked for a couple of weeks. Same problem again but not as bad. Then entered the DNS servers addresses from my ISP. Best solution i have found so far.

Try the following please:

  • Turn off both the router and modem
  • Turn on the modem then wait 2-5 minutes for it to boot properly
  • Turn on the router and wait 2-5 minutes to boot properly

Do you have a connection then?

I have done this multiple times even leaving it off for 12 hours at one point and the issue still persists. To me it seems as if it is a software issue with for whatever reason the R2 doesn't want to speak to the modem.

I am having the same issue with the R2 also and it seem that its related to this current firmware. I have tried everything thing that you guys have suggested ( been lurking on this issue since I got the router ) and the issue persists no matter what you guys told us to do because from what I've seen here so far its a lot  of us with this same problem. now for my question, when will we have a new firmware update because that's the only thing that seems will  solve are problems which I'm sure your team is aware of. thanks in advance!

Please email [email protected] with your order number and a link to this topic explaining the issue and requesting a replacement.

Hey, welcome to the forum!

Obviously due to the holidays things were delayed and we had a smaller work force so development wasn't as fast. We're back on it now, we have a version in beta but will probably won't be that one that goes out as we're investigating WiFi and disconnections so want to get something out for that.

Was wondering when will we get this update? This .179 firmware has been out for months and  there's a laundry list of issues that your team is aware of, I really wanna love this router but the lack of support makes it hard! I have been giving it time with hopes that the countless issue would get resolved before I ask for a refund, but from the looks of things seems we're stuck with the issues for longer then I expected. Sad thing is that what's suppose to make this router great is the software, but with all the bugs it fails to deliver what we  the consumer expected with our purchase.

Sorry to hear that, we can definitely understand your frustrations!

It's hard to give an ETA on the release of new firmware because the there are a lot of influencing factors and are subject to change

Lets hope you guys can come up with a firmware solution that solves issues for lots of people. I still have the internet drops probably every few days which the only fix I have for it now is to unplug the router for 30 secs and start it back up. It works perfectly fine after that every time but I shouldn't have to do this at all with any router considering my cable modem is not dropping the internet connection. By the way, my cable modem is an Arris SB6190 just in case that helps.
