Not sure if I setup the router the best way

Hi,

This is the second concern I was talking about is not sure if I did my setup correctly. I have AT&T Fiber Internet using their BGW210-700 and it gets it's internet through the ONT port from the AT&T Fiber Box. I was thinking of three ways I could set up this router.

  1. Bridge it via Cascaded Router setting
  2. Bridge it via IP passthrough
  3. Trash the older router and plug the NETDUMA R2 directly into the Fiber Box.

I really hope I can do the third one but I'm not quite sure if it would work. As of right now, I did the second one and still have some questions.

My first question would be... did I choose the way right to setup the router? Can I do the third option? I mean it works, but I'm not getting the full 1000 Mbps upload and download. I'm going around 780 Mbps Download and 680 Mbps Upload with ~14 ping (according to the Netduma R2 Connection Test). But via Wi-Fi, my internet speeds is probably about 1/5 of that with no internet traffic whatsoever.

My second question would be for my current setup, if the answer to the first question is Yes, did I set it up properly?

  • I disabled my ISP gateway's firewall in entirety
  • I disabled WiFi modules since it would be handled thru NetDuma.
  • I enabled IP Passthrough did DHCPS-fixed passthrough mode, chose the NetDuma through Mac address and set the Passthrough DHCP Lease to 99 days.

Now, I was told (not by you guys) to do something with setting the DHCP Pool to Public and change this and that but I got confused and didn't know what to put. So if there is anything I should change, please let me know.

Thanks guys!

There are probably some details you would need to make the connection. Check the WAN settings on the BGW and try to put those into the R2, if it requires VLAN then you'll have to go back to the method you were using for now.

Ok, also after I did a update, I'm now getting tour errors such as : "Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'fireTourFoundHere' of undefined" and "Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'setTour' of undefined and now I cant use the Geo-Filter features. I can't draw polygons, can't choose my home location, can't remove it, nothing.

I have Verizon Fios. It's possible to connect the R2 directly to an ONT. I made a step by step write up on how to do it in this forum like in 2015 or 16. Maybe you could search for it. Im not sure if it still shows up in the archive. I had to call Verizon and ask them to switch my connection type from coax to ethernet.

What type of cable is going from your ONT to your router? Also if you're having other issues, turn off your ONT for an hour. That way you'll get a fresh IP address when you turn it back on. You can also call ATT tech support and ask them to release the lease on your IP. Does the same thing as waiting an hour but you dont get to listen to elevator music while you're on hold with tech support. Turn ONT back on first  Wait for it to fully boot up and then turn the R2 on.

Did you do the factory reset after upgrading as suggested?

For me, the connection type is ethernet. I'm not sure if it'll work for me because of the way AT&Ts system is setup. But what do I know. I'll give it a try.

I'm not sure if AT&T requires VLAN, I think they do, but how would I know for sure?

Yes, it didn't work but I did find a bypass. I *think* if you delete the local site data while on doing the tour it will have a frenzy, why did I do this, I don't know. I used the local IP assigned by the ISP router 192.168.77.1 that gave me those wack errors but then I logged in with the WAN IP address assigned to the R2 and everything works fine.

The reset button on the back of the router is the factory reset, correct? If so, I did it three separate times.

You would need to ask ATT or find it in the BGW settings. Clear the browser cache/cookies and it should be fine. Yes that is the reset button but you can reset from the interface which I would recommend doing unless you're unable to access the interface to reset.
