ZenithAzn
I've been running speed tests multiple times after upgrading my internet download/upload speeds from 150 Mbps/5Mbps to 1000Mbps/35Mbps speeds and have seen that the speeds are capping at around 280 Mbps for the download speeds. My upload speeds match up to and sometimes surpasses what the ISP provides. I want to know if this is a limitation on the router or any of my other hardware. Any help would be appreciated. Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted September 28, 2020 Administrators Share Posted September 28, 2020 Hey, welcome to the forum! Do you require PPPoE, VLAN or DHCP identifiers for an internet connection? Are you doing the tests via ethernet or WiFI? If you disable QoS fully from the Anti-Bufferbloat 3 line option menu in the top left of the panel, do you get higher speeds then?
ZenithAzn
Thanks for responding back to my post, To answer your first question, I'm not sure which one of those protocols I use so I will need some assistance to answer that question properly. As for the second question I was doing the tests on my laptop via WiFi and getting those speeds but I switched over to Ethernet and ran tests on that. The speeds I got from the wired connection was averaging around 320 Mbps. For the third question, when I disabled the QoS I have seen an increase in the download speed. The average speed became 550 Mbps to almost 600 Mbps.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted September 29, 2020 Administrators Share Posted September 29, 2020 If you don't know then you won't be using them so that is fine. Okay so ethernet speeds are better, that is to be expected but still a little low. Have you tested the speeds directly connected to the modem since the upgrade? ZenithAzn
Yes, I have tried a direct connection to the modem and have gotten speeds that are about 900+ Mbps.
Administrators Netduma Fraser Posted October 2, 2020 Administrators Share Posted October 2, 2020 Could you try using a WiFi Analyzer, find the least congested channel for 5GHz then change to that. Then do a 5GHz speed test right next to the router, what do you get?
