Router Instability Over Time - Apex

I'm starting to to think I have a hardware fault somewhere since no one else seems to be exhibiting this problem.

What are my options at this point?

Did you do a factory reset after the new update?

I did. Set up from scratch using the reset button the back, held for 30 seconds after I passed the new firmware.

Apply a manual rule for Traffic Prio - Source 1-65535, Dest 1-65535, TCP/UDP do you continue to see the spikes after that?

I applied the rule to my main PC that is connected via ethernet and still see spikes when pinging the router directly.

Surely if you are pinging the router from your PC the issue is with the Network card of your PC or cable not the router?

Good idea. I will ping via my mini ITX build and report back shortly.

It definitely appears to the be the NIC on my main PC. My ITX does not show anything near those spikes at all. I swapped the cable being used on my Main PC and plugged into the Mini ITX rig and it still did not exhibit the spikes I'm seeing on the Main PC, so the cable has been ruled out. 

Glad to see it's not the router but it sucks that it's my board. I have two options at this point, RMA the board or buy a NIC.

@Netduma Fraser A small update (because I was trying to ensure the setting were mostly the same between the R2 and XR500), when I turn off IPV6 on the R2 the spikes stop on the main PC. It doesn't explain why the spikes are not present on my ITX rig with it on though. This has me scratching my head since it doesn't make too much sense from a troubleshooting perspective.

 

This is from my Main Rig after turning off IPV6 on both WAN and LAN in the settings.

Interesting, do both have IPv6 enabled on their network adapters?

Yes, they both do, looks like by default. Just to be sure I included a screenshot, I don't normally mess with anything in this dialog box unless I am trying to assign my PC a static IP via NIC when I accidently bork DHCP settings or brick a router.

Okay so it could either be we need to make some improvements to QoS but then it wouldn't have worked on the ITX or it is something to do with the network adapter on the main PC. Is the main PC adapter drivers up to date?

Yeah, I uninstalled completely. Let them install windows base drivers, then is installed the latest via Windows Update. I also went to Intel's site to get their drivers which seemed to be a month newer than what Windows Update had.

Each scenario yielded the same results.

I'm starting to see errors messages in the System Info module regarding IPV6 even though it's turned off.

Pings from this morning are fantastically stable. I guess I could easily verify if IPV6 was causing the poor performance by turning it back on.

Interesting, thank you for that. Yes please do, then we can definitely see that IPv6 is the issue and I can make an internal for the devs to take a look.
