I'm curious to know which one works the best or in which situation one works better than the other.

Here is how I would use it myself:

• Devices - Give my own devices/gaming device more bandwidth so others can't take away from me
• Applications - More than one gamer in the house so want to ensure each person playing has enough bandwidth
